It's a double-entendre on "really into"

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 year ago

The joke probably would've been clearer had you mentioned Vaporeon 😏

They watch the horny pokemon things, probably. Rule 34 and all that.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 year ago

Oh, that's nice. Something we can bond over then.

Not gonna lie that sounds like perks to me

...that in terms of human compatibility...

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago

...Grapploct is in the human-like egg group...

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago

...that in terms of human companionship, Flareon is objectively the most huggable Pokemon? While their maximum temperature is likely too much for most, they are capable of controlling it, so they can set themselves to the perfect temperature for you. Along with that, they have a lot of fluff, making them undeniably incredibly soft to touch. But that's not all, they have a very respectable special defense stat of 110, which means that they are likely very calm and resistant to emotional damage. Because of this, if you have a bad day, you can vent to it while hugging it, and it won't mind. It can make itself even more endearing with moves like Charm and Baby Doll Eyes, ensuring that you never have a prolonged bout of depression ever again.

I'm a huge pokemon fan I only saw the first season when it originally aired and only played red and blue...come at me

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

I also owned both silver and gold, bug never really played them because even back then the differences were marginal.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

That's all that ever mattered to me too. Peak level Pokémon. Still got Red loaded in my OG GameBoy Pocket on my desk.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I don't know. On the one hand i never played a game beyond generation 4 because is did not have the hardware and on the other hand i always felt like everything after gen 3 felt like it only purpose was to make more money and to milk the shit out of pokemon. Even with gen 3 i first had my hesitations. But it's just a personal opinion.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

I'm exactly the same as you, I think the last time I paid attention to anything Pokémon was ruby/sapphire. After that I don't know anything. I could have a good go at naming the original 151 still but when it became a cash grab I lost interest.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Maybe they read the manga?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago

Damn! I forgot about those. I think I still have the ones that were distributed with Nintendo power. Although they are in bad shape.

gen4 and the rest of them are lame. i drew pokemon. i owned the action figures, the cards, the magazines, the cheap fast food crap, the films, and the blow up dolls!

They have a bad dragon patch on their purse 😳 every time they pull something out I think it will be the strap, not lipstick 😳

Anyway OP post this in 196, Lemmy memes clearly doesn't understand the joke.

I watched the original run of the anime as a kid. How has it progressed? I have a bunch of questions…

  • does it still follow ash Ketchum?
  • does it tie into the story of the games?
  • what is the general story at this point?
  • does Ash just have a team of legendaries?
  • if I were to start watching again, where should I start?
[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)
  1. Ended his journey literally this year February

  2. not as far as I remember

  3. up to gen 8, Ash's story was becoming champion then master. Not gonna watch Paldea, lo siento 🤷🏿‍♀️ (gen 9, Paldea, is Spain, & Ash ain't mc)

  4. nope, & never does as I can tell, though his Greninja was definitely doing something lol, Ash-Greninja form

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago

I've watched a few episodes from each season and kept up on the news, but I havent religiously watched it by any means so I might be wrong on a few details.

Every season has followed Ash, but they will be moving on to a new protagonist soon.

It is very loosely connected to the games like it always has been. The two can be enjoyed independently of each other.

Not entirely sure on the story, but Ash did finally become a Pokemon world champion in the most recent season, which is why they are changing the protagonist.

He hasn't caught any legendaries, but he has a mythical Pokemon melmetal.

Based on what I've seen, you can start almost anywhere. Each season softly resets Ash's progress. You may see occasional cameos of past characters, but each season Ash usually makes a new set of friends, has a new set of Pokemon, and starts a new story.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

If you want to see the end of ash's journey, I recommend watching sun and moon seasons and then "pokemon journeys" (the sword and shield seasons). Journeys are the final seasons with ash but has a few episodes that are a callback to sun and moon.

Pokemon horizons has new protagonists, is currently airing and has about 23 episodes currently.

I think the series is over now.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

They fucked any balance after 4. Best card emerald fight me

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Fight accepted. Silver/Gold were the epitome. You had two areas, mother-fucking Lugia, and could battle the elite four and as a bonus, wipe the floor with your rival on specific days of the week. Plus, I can memorize about 252 pokemon. More than that and it's just a slog. Also, newly introduced day/night cycle with time passing actually meaning something? Hot damn, son, that's lighting a Ho-oh under someone's ass.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm still on Crystal as the single best game in the entire series. All of what you mentioned plus the Suicune story added? Plus the intro of the animated sprites for Pokemon, it's perfection.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Fair. I never played. Time to go find a rom!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

there is a hack with some qol changes, search around for that

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

yea, but the gameboy color was junky at best and only relevant for 3 years or something. Gen3 we had firered/ leafgreen, the hoenn series AND 2 gamecube games - that their graphics are to me better than the switch's releases

Competitive Pokemon?

Clarification: Pokemon showdown.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Nobody playing competitive anything is ever getting a date.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

tbf, going by all the people I know who seriously play competitive mode in any game that's for the best. Nothing but toxicity to be found there.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 year ago

I would know I used to game competitively. If you're not picking up an SO from doing it, you're shit out of luck.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

That's probably true, but a good friend of mine does play competitive Pokemon and he's married so it can happen.

His wife is also into pokemon too.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Nah, competitive Pokemon requires like 3 of the modern games.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

I meant Pokemon showdown.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago

...it's a Vaporeon joke isn't it

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

There are only two good things about Pokémon, and that’s FireRed and Regigigas
