After introducing in Android 16 DP1 last month, Google is rolling out a 7-day history for the Privacy dashboard to Android 15.

I've been using it for a while now on my Pixel and I gotta say it's actually really useful, you can copy text from anywhere, even apps that normally won't let you (both intentionally blocked and unintentionally) copy/select text

And the easy "translate what's on my screen" functionality has been really good on Lemmy when I come across the random German memes lmao

The actual search function also comes in handy when I want to reverse search an image from an app, but the app won't let me save it. It's nice to skip a step or 2.

That being said, since it's actually good I now expect it to be nerfed and/or abandoned in about 6 months

Why do people spend money (and quite a lot of it) for devices that have less functionality than a smartphone?

• Tablet is just a bigger screen, but not same power like a laptop.

• Smartwatch is just tracking device that sends even more of your personal data.

And BOTH are another battery that you have to worry about.

Hello everyone! I'm coming to you guys for help finding an Android phone for my girlfriend. She currently uses an iPhone but she wants an Android now. I plan to buy her one for Christmas but she has a few specific features she wants

My budget: $700

Desired Features:

• "relatively smaller" screen size
• "decent" camera for everyday use
• 3.5mm audio jack
• MicroSD card reader
• "If possible" extra security features/architecture

Am I the only one who doesn't like the new changes? Everything looks big like in coloros which already looks same as miui. Samsung kinda lost their identity. Ofc using it hands-on would give the clear picture.

Also this community needs to be more active and this is my effort towards it.

With the December 2024 security patch, Google is rolling out the stable Android 15 QPR1 update for the Pixel 9, 9 Pro XL, and 9 Pro Fold.

Play Protect could get a rescan button that will let users run another scan without forcing them to uninstall harmful apps.

After updating the Individual variant with notifications, Google Contacts has rolled out a redesign of the Favorite contacts widget.

I checked, they are system apps. Apparently I denied it to mtp at some point but it still works? Didn't try the other two. What purpose does listing these in the permission list serve other than cluttering it?
