To be pedantic, I don't really see Skyrim NPCs eat weird meals, but as the main character, I've regularly gobbled down 3 sacks of flour and a wheel of cheese mid combat.

I would say it's the opposite actually.
People in medieval times would kill for the average person's spice rack nowadays.

It's missing some lubricant though
You'll find that if your bread and cheese actually taste good your mouth has a tendency to create its own lubricant. The brick cheddar and supermarket bread pictured here probably don't make thrown though.
