Yeah. Literally just watched "The Terminator" - which I legally bought on DVD and ripped - on a 65" OLED TV streamed from my Plex instance and it was perfectly fine. I do watch higher-res stuff but honestly at couch-distance DVD quality is enough.

As for region locks, my ripping software and drive couldn't give two shits about that.

Better yet, use it to contribute towards a VPN subscription for more long-lasting ways of acquiring content

Back when I actually used a Blu-Ray player, it did take an update to play certain discs.

I don't bother with them anymore. DVD is sufficient quality and rips to files easily for low-profile additions to my library

If only somebody could figure out how to do that. They could call it a "Live CD" or "Live USB" environment which people could utilize during the install...

Facebook marketplace gets a ton of these "are they still available" posts. It's a combination of idiots who accidentally click the button (which automatically posts this) and mostly bots that are inquiring about ads because it's an easy way to appear like the account is "active"and a real person

Yeah, and as for the "there's no way to tell"

Well when somebody is selling shit like "Robin Williams Alexa Nest voice $19.99 GPS narration" or bullshit like that, it'll be pretty obvious.

A voice that sounds kinda "like Robin Williams" without being outright stated as such - or using his voice and others as a seed for AI generated output - might be a lot more difficult to pin down.

US corporations are all salivating at how they can cut out workers using technology and make record profits, but it'll be a quick turnaround from every other country full of sellers who don't give a fuck about copyright undercutting them on the market. Once that happens, they'll be clamoring for "better regulation" and it'll be too late.

Do the 7y updates also apply to the non-pro versions?

I think these types of solar projects are something an older child could do, at least with a little adult supervision to make sure that don't blind or burn themselves

Whoa cool down there Adolph. Nobody should be whether another group/culture/society/country should exist.

You can choose not to do business or interact with them, but that's about it.

I honestly don't understand the migration to in screen readers. Yes, it's cool that OLED allows passthrough, but an indent at the back makes getting a consistently centered finger easier. Barring that, I like how Razer put theirs in the power button

Yeah Pixel for similar reasons. Even when I paid for an expensive Samsung phone all the unremovable crap they'd loaded on made it feel like I was the product rather than the customer.

It could also be an actual infected file that wasn't caught by AV before, but is with updated signatures. That or the current signatures could have a false positive. It happens
