Let's really not import the compass here.

That's not really how it works. I would bet most of these companies were building their phones in the same factories as other small time brands. It's not like they were all making their own chips and capacitors and assembling every last piece.
Philosophy is made up to, so I guess everyone should just stop thinking?
But I don't get it.
Won't give you an a job if you didn't have an internship. Won't give you an internship if you didn't have an internship. Can't otherwise get an internship unless your dad works there. 🙄
That would be an interesting exercise in espionage but I don't think this would be feasible for modern chip making.

This has some interesting tidbits about what the next gen will be. And why even some detailed knowledge of the system is not the same as building it. Even if you got Zeiss's drawings of the anamorphic lens, could they just replicate it? Probably not immediately.
Why is art as a reference point for some new technology a bad thing? We can't all get a history degree to understand ancient Egypt, so does everyone need a degree in medicine and computer science to understand neuralink?
I don't really get the meme. Even if the person is too "stupid" to imagine a technology without Black Mirror to do the heavy lifting, it's still a useful metaphor to articulate reasons why.

Yes, this is my whole point. The whole compass game is an exercise in strawmen, usually used to push the Overton Window to the right.
