I learned of KDE Connect on here a couple months ago. I don't use it a ton, but it's really convenient for a few things. File transfers are easy, and you can send your clipboard between devices. That's been useful for when I'm communicating with someone on my phone, I can look stuff up on my PC and share URLs easily.

I was mostly joking, but KDE Connect has made phone-to-PC transfers much more convenient for me. I've only tried it between Android and Linux, but once connected, it basically nounts my phone as a drive that I can browse or copy/paste to and from.

Generally, I only use a cable to charge, and I rarely need/want to transfer files at the same time as I want to charge.

Google is trying to pick and choose who to filter out of results.

The SEPM claims that Google was preparing to test a scheme that would exclude articles from specific media outlets with which it is in dispute over rights to online news content.

You could use KDE Connect and do it wirelessly as well. Who needs cables for anything but charging these days?

One downside here is the kid is going to be told, at least as far as he can understand it, that daddy didn't want to go. And the kid, not understanding the nuance of the situation, won't understand that it's because mommy fucked up their relationship.

If it were me, I'd go and do my best to enjoy the trip. Babysitting duty doesn't sound so bad when it's your own kid and you get to share travel experiences with them.

Orphan Black was great. The most insane part was how you could tell which character was pretending to be another character even though they look the same. Tatiana Maslany did fantastic work on that show.

So when you pronounce every word wrong, you can make it sound like something else. Neat.

I'm not sure of the answer, but I feel like other commenters are just guessing.

My reason for doubting the dongle is that Bluetooth is designed to be ultra-low-power. We're talking in the low milliwatts range.

I don't know how much power a 2.4gHz dongle uses, but I would be surprised if it was less than Bluetooth. However, in terms of laptop battery life, it's probably not significant enough to really matter. It's not like either one will cut your batteey life down a noticeable amount.

I didn't know they made that piece. They were incredibly prolific artists with some amazing work for Marvel and Magic the Gathering

Sure is nice having the twin towers back!

To be fair to the cashier, they were just trying to do something nice for you and getting you a free discount. I doubt that any "training" was involved, they probably didn't think that anyone would refuse to give a phone number for a discount.

Most people wouldn't care, but I used to get so any spam calls that it wasn't worth the risk anymore.

This only works if you're from a country with 7 digit phone numbers.

I know that paint doesn't work well with TPU and that the typical way to color a piece is with dye. Does anyone have experience decorating prints that will see heavy use? Like if I wanted to use multiple colors, can dyes be brushed on similar to how one might hand paint a model? Is there a better way to do what I want?

I'm looking to offload all my media from my main PC and make it accessible to other devices in my house. It's likely to only be a few TB, probably 2 drives at most.

I've been trying to find a low-power solution since it will be running all the time. I do have a PoE switch, so it would be a bonus if it can run off PoE but not a requirement. I've been checking out a lot of the SBC's that have become popular over the past couple years, but even the budget ones have gotten pretty expensive.

What are some good options?
