I'm not arguing good vision is not important for general survival, but I think hunting has a higher ceiling of usefulness for good vision than anything else humans did in that period

I would argue there that there's a limit to how much better eyesight would affect things like that though, falling over and dying

Using that example if someone's vision is like an old CRT they might not see a root or something, trip over and die. If they have 1920x1080 they might see it if they have 4k they definitely see it.

Hunting however can benefit limitlessly, the further away you can see the better you can track

Not sure what your mean by it doesn't work that way

If men were predominantly doing the hunting, women would be more likely to choose a more successful hunter (more likely to pass on their genes if they have a better mate)

Also in general the ones who were better at hunting and their mates would be more likely to survive long enough to have children

Listen we all know deep down the solution is to try to parse it with regex

What's your sample size, do you actually talk to many gen z

If you asked them where they saved a photo on a smartphone they're not going to tell you a filepath because that's not how people use smartphones. I probably couldn't tell you where photos are stored physically on my phone without going out of my way to find that info

Also Google photos is a valid answer to that question because the file is saved in Google photos, just because it's cloud storage doesn't make it not storage. In that case local storage is basically just a cache anyway

That's a conscious decision though I said someone who doesn't know

It's a pretty good indicator. If you spend all day working with computers chances are you'll be able to type quickly

Pretty sure someone who doesn't know to plug their GPU in is probably not running Linux

We didn't have specific typing class but we had IT in both primary and secondary, at least late gen z got plenty of computer time in school and most I know in my generation are decent typists at least

Man look at millennials turning into boomers at record pace

"back in my day we did things properly, now all these damn kids... etc etc"

I've actively been told off at work on multiple occasions for putting too much effort into making my code reusable and extendable later down the line

(As of recently I've had to rewrite an entire project from last year because I gave up and just wrote a big blob of difficult to maintain code, then unsurprisingly the requirements changed)

Wow from the sounds of it they're gonna lose like, 400 dollars out of this debacle

Often find myself getting frustrated editing yaml, and it seems to be used everywhere for some reason I cannot fathom

I have an idea to write an editor plugin that will, when opening a yaml file, convert it to json (or some other less painful configuration language), then convert back on save. I don't know enough about yaml syntax to know if that's possible or if there's some quirk that makes them not completely cross compatible

Or alternatively if it exists a better CLI tool for editing yaml than just a normal text editor because I'm getting sick of pasting in a block of yaml and then having to fix the 8 indentation errors that somehow spawn from that

My phone's just bitten the dust and now I need to look for a new one again.

Thought I'd test the waters and see what kinds of phones people on here are using nowadays and what for, what features set them apart if any etc

Bonus points if anyone's managed to get mainline linux running on them either via KVM or bare metal

Edit: Thanks for everyone who talked about their choices of phone, I am now writing this on a fairphone 4 and am quite happy with it so far.

Just occurred to me that there might not be one

Saiyan saga has kaioken which isn't technically a form but may as well be Frieza saga has super Saiyan, cell saga has super Saiyan grades and super Saiyan 2, buu has super Saiyan 3, bog has god, then blue, blue evolved and ui

Am I missing one?

I bought a cheapo capture card a while back but the quality is pretty terrible

Is there any reason PCs can't just receive HDMI/displayport input from other devices through the same mechanism they output it?

For that matter also is there any reason HDMI can't be run over Ethernet? Afaik ethernet has far more bandwitth than hdmi nowadays

Was rather shocked to find BT hubs don't allow you to change DNS servers anymore and force you to use their own ones, so I can't properly setup adguard.

What routers are people using now that are reliable and will let me control my own network configuration

Microsoft are looking at putting datacenters under the ocean, which sounds like a really good idea to cool them but I can't help but think a couple decades from now it's going to start causing us problems
