I'm hoping you just forgot an /s. But just in case, there's nothing 'ordinary' about it. Unless you are talking about the 'new ordinary'.

Isn't this just more of what caused the problem in the first place? Namely, centralisation. If you store data locally and you lose a machine, that's bad but not the end of the world. If you store it centrally and you lose the data, that's catastrophic. Nassim Taleb nailed this stuff. Keep the downside limited, and the upside unlimited or as he says, "Don't pick up pennies in front of a steamroller."

Black people aren’t Black people. They’re people.

This! I couldn't believe it when I had to answer a question about race on the entry card into the US.

I get asking about skin color. It's like hair color, or eye color, but race? So many assumptions and biases just in that one word (race).

Hi there. We all have ups and downs in life, but sometimes the downs can feel really down or can feel like they will never end. Take heart though, things can and do get better. If you are having thoughts about taking your own life, know that there are people who care, and are there to help you. Reach out to someone if you need to.

It's even better than that. It's a computer's version of a story describing how a computer wrote a story which was then front-paged by a computer.

OP, please reword your post to be an open-ended question.

OP, please edit your title to make it a question.

We are currently looking for mods to help moderate Ask Lemmy on lemmy.world.

AskLemmy is the fourth largest community on lemmy.world and has an active member community. Mods will need to be able to do a quick check one or more times a day, most days of the week. Checks typically only take a minute or two, although on occasions they may take longer.

Please DM me or reach out on Matrix if interested. @bluetreefrog:matrix.org

Ask Lemmy is a place to ask thought provoking questions. The mods have been lenient with some of the recent posts on the basis that they must provoke thought for some people, but after seeing two posts essentially saying "what do you think of my stick?", I believe we can raise the bar a bit on what kind of thoughts we want to provoke here.

No more low effort posts please.

Scientists tell us that being connected and active is one of the secrets to having meaningful and fulfilling life when older. What activities and connections are you planning on pursuing?

How do they make you feel when you remember them?

Will it lead to more conflict or cooperation? If so, how will it develop and culminate?
