If your opponent follows no rules and utilizes violence against all who they consider their enemies, pacifism is complicity.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 8 months ago (2 children)

I can only imagine the whining and complaining and victimization if their opponents used the same tactics.

I used to be the type that would argue for nuance in such accusations. That blanket statements are foolish, and that not all of a thing can be blamed for the actions of just some of a thing-

But yeah. If you’re a conservative/republican….

You’re a fascist.

[–] [email protected] 34 points 8 months ago (4 children)

I think the biggest red flag for me lately has been libertarian because what I've learned that actually means is you're the insane flavor Republican but don't want the bad PR

Modern right-libertarians are just the right-wing of liberalism taken to their most extreme, specifically in their propertarianism, especially in a settler colonial society like U.S, Australia, Northern Ireland, and Israel....

I call them right libertarians because the term "libertarian" has been co-opted to hell by them

“One gratifying aspect of our rise to some prominence is that, for the first time in my memory, we, ‘our side,’ had captured a crucial word from the enemy . . . ‘Libertarians’ . . . had long been simply a polite word for left-wing anarchists, that is for anti-private property anarchists, either of the communist or syndicalist variety. But now we had taken it over...”

Absolutely I understand that the broader political definition of libertarian is not what it's been co-opted to be in North America.

Here it is inextricably linked to the most insane rhetoric, used only the brainwash people into voting against their interest.

this essay by Huey P Newton is pretty good about anarchism being good theory, but typically counterproductive in caste societies like US

There was a time I wouldn't automatically judge a Republican voter.

Those times are long gone.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 7 months ago (2 children)

Why judge when you can just believe what they tell you with their own mouths?

I got downvoted into oblivion yesterday for suggesting that an easy solution to the world's problems easily begins in America with a Rwandan style genocide of conservatives.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 7 months ago (1 children)

My morals say that solution is bad.

Their morals dictate that I not take it off the table. If somebody only speaks French, you won't get anywhere speaking Japanese.

My co-worker with a pickle rick tattoo would be so mad if he could read this

[–] [email protected] 8 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Is he illiterate? Because from your one sentence, I'd say that tracks.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 8 months ago

Seems like you’d miss a lot of that show’s references.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 7 months ago

A tattoo? Maybe he's the originator of the copypasta! Nothin personnel kid 😎

They're not Republicans the way that word meant, but the ones that were won't be coming back out of cowardice and have abdicated the name to the fascists, so now they are de facto Republicans.

Note that anything to do with southern US states makes all of the above confusing and incestuously intertwined, so we will stick to the simpler less inbred definitions.

[–] [email protected] 49 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Being Republican is always a choice.

[–] [email protected] 43 points 8 months ago (3 children)

It’s always a choice eventually, indoctrination from a young age is difficult to shake but I stop that lenience around age 23-25

[–] [email protected] 43 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I didn’t wake the fuck up until I was about 27, and every day of my life since I’ve focused on practicing empathy and mindfulness - the little fantasy world they live in was comforting and it was difficult to break some habits.

Anyone, even an octogenarian who is trying to grow and acknowledge their own faults of the past should deserve to be met with understanding, not malice.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 8 months ago

Thank you very much! I loved your words. To hear that there are people out there like you gives me hope.

I stop that lenience when they casually slip into conversation that trans people should be murdered on sight.

In what world bob? Even in your fantasy world where they are mentally ill, they should still be murdered on sight?

[–] [email protected] 20 points 8 months ago (1 children)

There was a great clip of some chud who argued himself into accepting trans people with that exact kind of reasoning.

It's a mental illness, you can even see brain chemistry differences -> They deserve therapy -> failing that, corrective surgery or hormones-> oh

I don't know if it stuck, but it was still hilarious. And it demonstrated the point rather handily that the rational folks are all already on team Woke.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 7 months ago (1 children)

It's taken a while to figure out the meaning, but the reading I did basically defines "Woke" as generally being aware of the world and its problems, (Or in other words, not having your head in the sand). It's baffling that the term has been used as an insult by anti-intellectuals.

The end of your sentence is the unbaffler you need.

That's fine Rick, I don't respect Republicans either

[–] [email protected] 5 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Both Republican and Democrats are on the political right in America, where is the actual third Left Party?
