Take the red pill instead.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 7 months ago

Buy a pill cutter from the drug store or put the scored side down on a flat surface then push on the middle.

Just crush it into powder and sniff it

[–] [email protected] 9 points 7 months ago

Nah gotta boof it for full effect.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 7 months ago

Crush it into a powder and form the powder into lines in order to precisely divide it by volume.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 months ago

Beat me to it.

Pro tip: don’t use a glass object to crush it, or else small pieces of glass could get into the powder and give you a nose like Artie Lang.

What are you using to cut it? The trick I found with the pull cutters is to set it then slap it with your hand to make the cut in one go. Also, once the blade is a bit dull, it’s over and you’ll need a new one.

Just tried to snap between fingers. The dent is supposedly there so you don't need any tool

[–] [email protected] 18 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, no. The dent gives you a guide for a pill cutter.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 7 months ago (2 children)

FYI French and never heard of a pill cutter. Used my fingers for the last 30 years and I would estimate the failure rate at well below 1%. It is just that the dent on this one is u shaped, while nearly all other are v shaped, making the snap easy easy. Also pill cutter seriously? Heard of knifes?

FYI French

Also pill cutter seriously? Heard of knifes?

This coming from the nation that invented the guillotine

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

Yeah because the first few beheadings by knife were exhausting and the executioners went on strike.

But fun fact : the French word for strike is "grève", which comes from the name of the place where executions were heldv

Pill cutters are situationally easier for the elderly to use. They're portable, don't require a cutting surface, and generally have guards along the blade making it safer than a knife.

What works for me is snapping it while my fingernail is in the groove. Gives a clean break down the center like every time.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 7 months ago (1 children)

The dent signifies that there's an even distribution of active ingredients across the entire pill. It's a break line but it's purpose isn't for hand-snapping

If there's no line, you aren't supposed to cut it

Kind of interesting, right? I learned that from a pharmacist

[–] [email protected] 9 points 7 months ago

You have brought shame to your bloodline.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Yeah nah that never works.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 7 months ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 4 points 7 months ago (1 children)

80% of the time it works every time. Depending on the cost of your medication it’s not an odd I like playing with.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 7 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

You meant "it works 80% of the time," didn't you? I also make this kind of mistake all the time.

Edit: apparently that was a quote from a movie

Bro damn I am first time hearing pill cutters. We just break itwith hands. For most pills here, it does work very well

[–] [email protected] 4 points 7 months ago

Cut it while it's still in the plastic.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

Since no one mentioned this yet..

Take a coin with a head on it. Put the grove over the raised face with groove side up. Press both ends of the pill down with thumbs. It breaks the pill along the groove.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 7 months ago

It may be gross to some but I just use my thumbnail to break pills. They shouldn't be they hard, at least not Setraline.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Break another into thirds, then you can have half.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Half of that would be one pill though... You can't make halves out of thirds

[–] [email protected] 3 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Cut one of the thirds in half, and have 1/3 + 1/6

[–] [email protected] 2 points 7 months ago

I considered doing this, but remembered I was mildly infuriated
