MODERATORS

I just saw two troll accounts posting child pornography on [email protected]. The accounts are --

Content warning (obviously): Child pornography

Both accounts were made today to post just one post, and both are using images hosted on Mintboard.org.

I don't think this is just an issue of having moderators react faster. I think there should be some limits on posting with one-day old accounts or for accounts trying to make their first post on this one.

Dude why are you sharing the link to it?!

[–] [email protected] 20 points 10 months ago

If ever there was a time that being taught to share and also show proof goes too far, this is it.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 10 months ago

I'm linking to the accounts that posted it so that people can follow up in the specifics: which instance hosts the accounts, and what site hosts the content.

[–] [email protected] 34 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Posts have been removed and user has been banned. Also submitted the Mintboard stuff to admins and myself/other mods have recommended for it to be added to the blacklist of banned sites.

Awesome, thanks.

I think this is the same troll that attacked Lemmy some times ago. Idk if it's harassment campaign for the person in the picture or it's purposely target lemmy. It's a boon that the latest update allow instance to not cache the image so it's easier to deal with these.

Hello,

I’m an admin for lemmy.world and I want to apologize for the way to slow reaction here. CP should be talen down on sight, and we failed to do that in time.

I will be discussing with the other admins on how to fix this in the future. Till then I can say nothing else then: sorry.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

There is a demo application on Android (IAT) which can detect/flag any problematic looking photo. A tech like that (preferably foss) can be integrated to something and help overhelmed admins. Do not test it with problematic stuff Obviously it shouldn't auto anything like Zuck does.

As far as I know we already use a filter, but I think this was faked/generated and thus wasn’t in it’s database.

Can I report these accounts without clicking on to their profiles?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago

I can't find the report accounts button even when clicking on their profiles.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Mods should react to reports, if not what fucking good are they?

[–] [email protected] 35 points 10 months ago (4 children)

To be fair to them, very few forums have 24 hour rapid response times. I don't know what country the mods are in. I think the bigger lesson is that there need to be safeguards to make this harder.

First, if a post has a score of -10, it needs to disappear. There's no reason for another fifty people to have to see disturbing content after 10 people already did.

Second, maybe place limits on accounts with no posts or comments or that were made today.

[–] [email protected] 35 points 10 months ago (1 children)

if a post has a score of -10, it needs to disappear

So I can make 10 accounts and have free reign to delete anyone's post? No dice. There's already systems in place to prevent this from happening, some things just slip through the cracks. (There's a reason this is a rare occurrence)

[–] [email protected] 6 points 10 months ago (1 children)

-10 and it goes into a quarantine until a mod reviews it then.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 10 months ago (1 children)

That really isn't any better. This is just asking for targeted harassment.

(Key point the only reason the post hasn't been deleted yet is because there are no mods on to do so)

[–] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

What if Lemmy clients had an option to not view negative X posts on the cummulative feed, you would have to directly navigate to the sub to view all content currently available including the negative X or lower posts?

Each client would have to implement this, but could be a way to "clean up" the primary feed. I hate when I see -20-something posts on subs im on because im fairly certain they've all deserved those scores.

Just a thought, what else could we implement to help this issue?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago

That use to be a feature is some reddit clients.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 10 months ago

I've gotten -10 on some non-trolling posts ;).

[–] [email protected] 9 points 10 months ago (1 children)

CP is illegal. Communities have been shut for less. Go look at the shitposting community over at Lemmy.world. They shut down overCSAM and started an application system for membership.

Child Sexual Abuse Material

[–] [email protected] 4 points 10 months ago

There's @[email protected] that AFAIK auto removes either based on number of downvotes or reports. I just have no idea how much that would be

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Good thing you were able to make a CSAM post about you! You sure do hate the attention you get from those trolls, you totally hate having this account and your other past accounts connected by constantly whining and linking that account.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 10 months ago

Define whining. And define CSAM.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago

What is the point of posting this publicly? Like any CP, you should clean your cache/history in the most secure way possible (e.g. foss bleachbit) and alert both admins and the FBI.
