I want to make it clear that I am in no way, downplaying the alarming amount of shootings that occur in the US. Just that it was engrossing to see so many accounts of mass shootings in other countries, spanning decades.

That's because there are more firearms in civ hands in the USA than there are in all the militaries combined. Unless you plan on going door to door and forcefully taking these firearms (even then, criminals are not going to hand them over) , no amount of laws will stop someone who wants to do harm with one from obtaining one and using it.

There is a lot of stuff we can do that'll drop our violence overall by helping our society.

We can start with:

  • Single payer healthcare

  • Ending the War on Drugs

  • Ending Qualified immunity

  • Properly funding our schools and not just rich white suburb schools.

  • Build more schools and hire more teachers for proper pay so the class room sizes aren't 30-40 kids for one teacher.

  • UBI (at least start talking about it) once AI takes over most of the blue collar jobs.

  • End for profit prisons

  • Enforce the laws already on the books

  • Make sure there are safety nets for poor families so the kids don't turn to violence/gangs to survive.

  • Increase the minimum wage

  • Recreate our mental healthcare so kids don't turn to the internet for support. And to help veterans not end up as a suicide number.

  • Actively make a law to solidify Pro-choice rights. More unwanted children does not help our situation.

  • Banning Insider Trading for Congress

  • Term limits

  • Ranked Choice Voting so we can move away from a 2 party system

Literally this entire comment is you forgetting buybacks are a thing that worked incredibly in other countries that did them.

Or grandfather policies for guns that can be proved to have been bought before regulations went into place.

Or just subsidizing adequate separated storage for firearms and ammunition.

Or even something as simple as titling and insuring weapons to close the gunshow loophole.

Literally this entire comment is you forgetting buybacks are a thing that worked incredibly in other countries that did them.

No they did not, the buy back they did in Australia, had a 60% rate. They also had a very small group of owners, 1million firearms in civ hands was the estimate...if 40% don't turn their firearms in it's still over 100million in civ hands. Buy backs do not work. Period.

Or grandfather policies for guns that can be proved to have been bought before regulations went into place.

Care to clarify this one? No one is shooting people with 1899 rifles.

Or just subsidizing adequate separated storage for firearms and ammunition.

Again how do you enforce this? And what makes you think criminals will follow these rules?

Or even something as simple as titling and insuring weapons to close the gunshow loophole.

You mean registration....good luck with that. And there is no gun show loophole. That's the dumbest shit ever. Private sales are still private sales. If an FFL sells at a gun show, you will have to pass a BG check.

Alright, let's dig into this hot mess,

> literally provides example of buybacks working and removing a majority and change of all civlian owned firearms

> "BuYbAcKs Do NoT wOrK. pErIoD."

If you have a gun a new law would make illegal it's immune to the new law so long as you can prove it was bought before the law, and you have to sell it directly to the buyback program only.

Same way as in Japan, random once a year visit from the local sherrifs/deputies to spot check everything is stored and accounted for in proper order. No different than kit inspection in the millitary.

Ah so you just don't know anything about what you're talking about and are upsetti spaghetti that your "literally even less effective than waving a literal security blanket in an attacker's face" security blanket firearm is being scrutinized. I'm picturing you sweating about how we must be aiming to take your coal roller next!

Alright, let's dig into this hot mess,

Yes please show us how your about to cram your foot into your mouth.

literally provides example of buybacks working and removing a majority and change of all civlian owned firearms

Well that's a strong start...you didn't provide shit showing buy backs work... I'll give you a second chance.

"BuYbAcKs Do NoT wOrK. pErIoD."

Ah the classic mocking camel casing, because you actually lack a coherent thought to type out. Really strong opening so far.

We'll use an anti gun source for this one:

https://www.cnn.com/2022/04/16/us/chicago-gun-buybacks/index.html

If you have a gun a new law would make illegal it's immune to the new law so long as you can prove it was bought before the law, and you have to sell it directly to the buyback program only.

What in the fuck does this even mean, can you use a comma or...Jesus I don't even know if a fucking comma is gonna help

Same way as in Japan, random once a year visit from the local sherrifs/deputies to spot check everything is stored and accounted for in proper order. No different than kit inspection in the millitary.

Lol so who's paying these people to go to every gun owners home? 1/3rd of Americans own a firearm(this is a debatable number because not everyone reports having them and you can get them without ever buying one from a store)...so who do you plan on hiring to go around and check on 90+ million firearm owners?

Ah so you just don't know anything about what you're talking about and are upsetti spaghetti that your "literally even less effective than waving a literal security blanket in an attacker's face" security blanket firearm is being scrutinized. I'm picturing you sweating about how we must be aiming to take your coal roller next!

Lol you might want to go read my other comments... you're arguing with someone on the left and not some idiot repub/conservative trumpist. I literally want federal law for abortion rights, single payer, legalizing all drugs, safety nets, UBI, reforming the police, ending qualified immunity, ending for profit prisons, paying teachers more, pro union, anti-right to work law, raising the minimum wage, pro LGBTQ+... basically everything the majority of the left agrees with... except I'm a die hard 2a supporter...armed minorities are harder to oppress.

None of your points have anything to do with guns.

I think having less guns in the hand of people would mean there’s less gun crime.

Not being able to open carry ever would help too.
