A Fediverse community for open-ended, thought provoking questions
Please don't post about US Politics. If you need to do this, try [email protected]
Rules: (interactive)
1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, and toxicity are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them
2) All posts must end with a '?'
This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?
3) No spam
Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.
4) NSFW is okay, within reason
Just remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either [email protected] or [email protected].
NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].
5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email [email protected]. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
Reminder: The terms of service apply here too.

I have a hunch. Come to [email protected] and report something. I'm going to see if the reporting feature is working.
Reports are typically fine. Theres a couple issues with 0.18 but the amount of people reporting would make up for that. Removed it locally from my instance since some reports came to me fine
I assume it will be snapped soon by lemm.ee or world but its around midnight in the US right now and early morning in europe
It should be noted one of the oversights being worked on right now is that people from one instance who make reports can only have those reports answered in that instance. An admin discovered this and so, being on lemm.ee, the admin asked us to make lemmy world alts. Thus @[email protected] is me.
explain that to me like I'm a senior citizen.
Lemm.ee is an instance. Lemmy.world is an instance. They're two parts of the same website system, but they're also separate in some ways, like two states in the US.
Suppose you're in New York and you go on vacation to Florida. Then say you want to call someone in New York. Your cell phone has a New York number, so it won't work with the cell phone towers near you unless you put in the person's full area code.
Lemmy instances are like that, except there are no area codes. So suppose you're on one Lemmy site and you make a report on someone. The report will only be visible to moderators of the same part of the Lemmy system because there are no area code equivalents on here.
The admin on Lemmy did the equivalent of Commissioner Gordon convincing Batman to be in both New York and Florida at the same time, so that when the Joker strikes, Batman can hear the people in Florida ask for him help from New York.
