Fear doesn't work, we've known this for decades. If we know what positive steps are being taken, then we can support those or perhaps build on them if you're able.

What about this?: https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20210310-the-trillion-dollar-plan-to-capture-co2 We know corporations are a big part of the issue. Are there ways they're being regulated?

That fear based, helpless feeling needs to be shot down when ever we see people spreading that. We need to take action, but no one is talking about what we, as a single household, can do. I'm not saying we alone can fix everything. What steps can we do and/or how can we support people who are doing the right thing?

I buy almost nothing except food, most of it is "raw" ingredients, nothing preprocessed. I don't think I can do more at this point.

This is asking for brainstorming on action steps so people aren't left in a freeze state, but know what they can do. It sounds like you already are doing your part.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

But "doing your part" is worthless if corporations and oil companies outweigh you by billions. Until they're destroyed, were fucked.

I recycle, I try not to buy plastic, I try to get things from nearby and not imported, I try not to eat processed food, but I'm nothing. The population of a country is nothing if corporations run rampant with our world.

Governments need to shut that shit down, and governments are paid off by corporations.

So I have nothing left but fear, and the hope that these people start disappearing mysteriously

I understand your fear, but that is helping no one, especially you. From what I read from your comment is that you think it's the corporations and government. Maybe there is a way for us to crowdsource that info so we can vote with our dollars. It would show what the companies own and alternatives to every product. Fight for corporations to be broken up. Don't use the biggest environment abusers. The attitude of freeze fear is not going to get us out of this mess and giving up is helping the corporations to keep abusing us, the victims and common people.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

But there's no need to crowdsource that info because it's already common knowledge that "carbon footprint" and "plastic recycling" are useless inventions to make us feel like this is all our fault and if we're good little boys and girls maybe we'll change the world.

It's common knowledge that we're all fucked and there's nothing we can do as individuals because it's the money that makes the rules. Money owns the media, money owns the government, money comes from killing the planet and money doesn't want to stop.

I'm not frozen, I'm just helpless. I don't have money, I don't have time, I'm in exactly the position the corporations of the world want me.
