The problem is, in the US, both the employer and prospective employee are doing a dance of lies, and employers are always more practiced, more enthusiastic, and less hesitant liars.
They genuinely see their lying as somehow noble. The same way they view their ~~greed~~ "rational self-interest."
Seriously, just ignore the "requirements" and if the job description fits you, apply anyway.
and learn on the job if it doesn't.
That depends on how far off the job description is and if that's the direction you want to go.
