Seeing how Android adopted it 4 years later, it's pretty obvious that Apple made it the de-facto standard. I agree with you, something like JPEG XT or really any other open format would have been a great choice, but they made HEIC the standard, which requires a license. Dick move.

What other image format supports HDR and modern compression algorithms that don't require a license?
There, ftfy. You answer the question.
I literally said it was easy to do.
Man I feel you there. The apathy is real. I feel for those who are innocent who are really going to be hurt by this. I've stopped caring about anyone who voted for it. You're on the lower income but can't afford food? Too bad he's coming for food stamps. Bootstraps. Grandma needs Medicaid but voted red? Sorry grandma, better get a job.
For all those who truly voted to try to save these things, my heart goes out to them. The rest though, it's going to be painful.
The ironic thing is that they did it all to own the libs. The thing is though, the vast majority of "libs" I see push for these programs for others, not themselves. But these people can't even comprehend that we want to help people and assume we want free stuff. All the while it's them that we were probably helping the most. It's absolutely asinine
oh freaking awesome, this looks amazing! Thank you so much for this!
I'm personally a person with no party at this point. Democrats don't represent my views, they were just closer, but there's no one who does who runs at a national level
"cripple your brand new shiny computer, why would you do that, you're an idiot for turning this off"
For most of you suggesting hosting a repository - yes but,
Host forgejo. Just host the git mirror. It comes with a package repo out of the box. Then you have the source code and the docker images
You won't regret it!
Oh sorry, I got so hyped about chairs I completely missed that part
Is it dead? People are leaving but I don't think it's dead... Yet
