What exactly is the concern that they will do to us?

Unless you are an absolute monopoly, there is a point you can cross where your customers just leave.

I work for the largest contact center tech firm, and I'm sure it won't be this year. There are major issues to be solved. The companies that acted first had cars sold for $1, entirely new offers made up that they had to honor, and their bots made poems full of swear words about how shitty their companies were. I'm not sure how long it will take for gen ai to take over but some major issues need to be solved first and I don't see much progress being made on those.

Especially when these whole articles revolve around couple sentences in an earnings call which were basically "it had a bigger effect than we expected, but we're doing okay now." I'm sure as an excuse for lower than expected profits in that period.

Looks like you have a problem with pulling out in time.

Yes home assistant green comes preinstalled with everything you need, you can use addons, etc. Just buy it, plug it in and start going. There aren't really "basic" and "advanced" versions of HA. There's just some that have addons and others where you do the addons yourself as docker containers. But all of them have the same HA features.

Yes this is the fine line you have to walk. I've cut off tik tok, limited many others to 1h a day, but you can't cut them off completely or you cut off their access to their friends.

Addons are just docker containers at the end of the day so as long as you know how to spin up a docker container, you're not adding much. And as long as you know how to spin up a docker container I don't think you'd have much issue getting the dockerized version working.

You can buy preinstalled hardware like the Home Assistant Green if you aren't up for it. I don't think you can really make it much simpler without just selling the hub itself.

The whole thing required a subscription.

It got funded to the tune of $240m. Which was probably about as far as they thought this through.
