I guess it's less that the site was compromised, and more that someone linked an image in their account bio? It only worked on victims already infected with the first stage (not that I understand what happened there)

We also should have laws on other medical implants (ex. stents etc.), so there is a pathway to getting these regulations in

We just need them yesterday

Yea I didn't know internet dashcams like the above existed, sounds like it would be expensive to get the same benefits out of it. A dashcam should work like a blackbox, it can't lose data during a collision. The data should be easily accessible and not locked behind some proprietary format.

I've heard Garmin recommended for watches, maybe similar for dashcams? But again, like others are saying, most brands should probably be ok

Better to look for other factors like tolerance to shake/temperature or video quality in poor conditions (darkness, fog, glare)

It's also confusing because a bunch of these aren't social media

I assume it's sarcasm or a downvote troll?

Eh, I don't know the wider context around this but the headlines criticism doesn't seem valid.

Makes me think of the "you criticize society and yet you live in it" meme. It's fine to use social media and still talk about the harms. It's also fine to try and regulate the social media companies while still using social media, In the same way that it's fine for environmental activists to travel for their work.

There's nuance to it and it's still possible for hypocrisy to occur, but I don't see it here (from my quick skim)

This is such a Lemmy-flavoured post, and I love it 😄

Unethical LPT, but it's using a FOSS app and OSM, and it could be repurposed into something ethical as well

Yea overall agreed

My guess for why Aprifnid worked better was because it's not similar to other words, maybe

I'd recommend sticking around a bit and subscribing to more places. A lot of people have been able to replace Reddit (and waste similar amounts of time here)

My tips are

  • Subscribe to more communities. After searching for something on LemmyVerse, if you find 3 communities that might be interesting, subscribe to them all.

    • On Reddit, a community with low subscribers is usually dead. On Lemmy, there is a lot more engagement on the content so even the dead looking community will give you interesting content over time
  • Feel free to comment and post more. People are more likely to respond here

It isn't a 1 to 1 perfect copy of Reddit, it's different :)

You can also pop in to [email protected] to ask questions or say hi :)

I think what they're saying is that it's POSSIBLE, but it's not that likely that real energy was spent on making this change because Lemmy isn't that big of a deal yet.

I'd say it's more likely that Lemmy a term that isn't commonly used, while also being similar to other words. So more people are trying to type out "lemme" or "Lenny" than "Lemmy". Same reason why certain names are often misspelled on mobile

I can't really test it myself because I don't really use swipe typing

I'd be curious what the original data was from, the link just says DataReportal.com ?
