Just wanted to finish this out, she picked the Xtrfy M50 and the Keychron K7 Max

I have been spending a lot of time working remotely with my laptop in random locations. And usually just plug my mouse in via the USB dongle. But just curious if there is a noticeable battery difference doing this? Seems like Bluetooth would be better because it's already powering other things anyway.

Edit: seems like it's Bluetooth. Going to have to change my habits. Thanks all.

I didn't realize they did keyboards, I've got 4 of their controllers and they are great.

Another question, she runs Fedora, do these have software that needs to run in windows?

Seems like you're right. Might have to spend a bit more. I really appreciate the advice.

I'll spend it necessary, but I'd like to limit to around $75-$100

Solid advice, and yeah she gets to pick but obviously I like to do some homework on the options.

Yeah, I'm kinda out on Logitech after their recent money grab.

She's growing up, and she's got a framework 13 laptop with fedora 40, which is great, but she's been using hand me down peripherals.

She'd love a decent mechanical KB as she likes the clicky clicky of the keys, but the last one I got her, a Lofree, basically bit the dust in no time.

She's SUPER into the aesthetics but doesn't want RGB led's, but DOES like a nice backlit keyboard.

When searching for it, amazon, best buy and the rest just pollute the results, so it's actually difficult to decide what to get her. Her birthday is coming up so this will be her main gift.

What have you all had good luck with that might be aesthetically pleasing, that the quality wasn't trash like Lofree.

EDIT: thank you for all your suggestions, I've sent her a bunch of links to look at and she's going through them now. I'll try to remember to post back what she picks.

My toilet, a few times a day starts running water for a few seconds then stops. How do I fix it?

I have noticed lately that several sites I've tried to login to, some I already have an account, some I am trying to make a new account give me what seems like endless captchas.

The two notables ones from my memory, Etsy, where I've had an account for years and have 2fa enabled ffs. The other Unity, where I'm trying to make an account to join a friends Organization.

After several minutes the captches just seem to keep going and I get more and more frustrated to the point I just give up and don't login (which is not really an option with my Etsy store).

My setup isn't anything crazy, Firefox, Fedora 40, no vpn's or anything. Always from either my laptop or gaming system.

Does anyone else have this issue? What are the options?

EDIT/UPDATE: I disabled ublock origin long enough and only got one captcha. Seems google is trying to punish people using that. EDIT2: Spoke too soon, got my email verification, clicked through and back to endless captcha's.... ffs

Weird story, so about 9 years ago we sold our house to a family member, who rented it out. Those renters reached out to them and said that we got a package. We still live in the area so I went and got it from them.

We have no idea what this is, or who sent it. When I search that sku I can't find much except an article about how Americans are getting sent seeds from China, the return address is from Equatorial Guinea. But even if they are seeds, what are they? Also why?

What you got Lemmy? Maybe put a sarcasm tag on your response if you have a humorous thought. But I really want to know. Google lens thinks they are bugs.

Videos don't seem to play but it seems to only be on lemmy.world instance. Even if the post doesn't originate from lemmy.world.

Hello, I'm looking at getting an additional printer that's larger format, but faster. I've run across the Sovol SV07 Plus which appears to be new. I'm not familiar with the brand and as such was curios if anyone has had experience with them.

What might go wrong with them? (those dual X-axis bars look suspect due to wear)

How reliable are they?

Is there a better option?

For years now after a while I just stop getting texts. Reboot the phone and they work again for a while. The crazy thing is that it's happening on several phones. A pixel 3, a galaxy s20, and now a OnePlus 8. Signal works fine obviously but only a few people I know are on signal. Carrier is T-Mobile and they always just want to sell me. A new phone. Anyone have ideas?
