I think you are entirely missing the point of this comic and misunderstanding the rules of the pictured intersection. There's a reason these were outlawed in my state (michigan). They are a dumb way to direct traffic, the "stopping room" you've circled is not meant for stopping in, or else there would be far more space there, likely an entire lane of room. I'm not suggesting making blind turns. You are not supposed to proceed without visibility or merging room, hence why the stopped line of cars in the middle lane have the right-of-way as they are blocking your view of that and possibly the traffic behind them, which the person at the front of the line has almost no way of knowing. You stop in the middle then you are still blocking them for as long as it takes to merge into traffic now that you've got yourself in this situation.

It just does not make sense to do it that way. If you can't make the turn left then you turn right and find somewhere to turn around, which is how our roads are designed from the jump here in michigan.

Anyways, this is a really stupid argument and I'm really not interested in continuing it.

That is not what that excerpt is talking about, that is talking about a road with a middle turn lane.

The road pictured here has a median which cannot be driven over, generally there's a kerb and it's usually just grass on top. The center part is not for stopping in, it is only for driving through. You should not proceed unless you have a clear view of traffic from where that car is sitting on the left. In some cases there will be a white line to stop there, and in that case that is okay, but that is not what is pictured here.

There is no middle lane here wtf are you talking about

Yeah this is the only legal way to turn left in a road with a median like this in michigan. You have to turn right to turn left.

Yes! On the other side of this, as a cis woman, don't be afraid to teach her practical, hands-on skills that don't conform to whatever ideas you have about gender roles. My dad wasn't in my life much, though my grandfather was a fair bit. I was always jealous of the boys that were raised to have "shop" skills. I wanted to help with that kind of stuff but the adults just kind of shrugged me off, where I feel like if I was a boy I might have been invited or even volunteered to help. All the older men that have worked alongside me in shops act surprised when they see that I can hold my own around power tools. The only exception might be some of my robotics mentors.

I learned what I know mainly from a couple projects with my grandfather and some classes/clubs I took part in in high school, and while it's something that does just click for me, I got to engineering school and felt pretty alienated when the boys had way more practical knowledge about things like cars and computer networks. Their father figures didn't shy away from those topics with them and gave them solid foundations to build their skills upon.

Of course, you might not have those particular specialties yourself and she might grow up to be into different, traditionally "girly" things, but you won't be able to say it was for a lack of support or because you were reluctant to share that side of yourself/your interests with her. It's a whole level of connection that I think is too easily missed between people raised as girls and their father figures, while those raised as boys, yes, probably are more likely to miss out more on the emotional end of things. Both are important for a well-rounded human being.

Eating their young seems to be their first response to any form of stress actually

Do yourself a favor and get real pseudoephedrine. Phenylephrine dries my sinuses out so much that it actually hurts and I have to use nasal ointments that only seem to help what I can reach with them for like 5 minutes at a time. Pseudo (+mucinex if needed for thicker mucus) honestly feels like going back to baseline in comparison.

I can't stand when people do this. It's beyond frustrating when I've put effort into a relationship and just get this in return. Like I would literally drop everything for you at a moment's notice and you can't even commit to meeting up next week or have the decency to be honest with me so I don't waste my time preparing for you and can make other plans.

What the actual fuck, like am I doing something wrong or did it become okay at some point to treat your friends like this?? Cause it makes me feel like shit when it happens and it happens way too often.

I've actually been to sushi restaurants where you pay per person and the entire menu is all you can eat. The waiter leaves a menu with you and checks on you periodically so you can order a roll or two per person at a time. We were vacationing in Florida and apparently it's a relatively common thing down there.

It's probably easier on a sushi chef too to stagger orders instead of doing them all at once, cause they'll have to be put together and rolled up one after another anyways. It's not like a burger joint where you can toss multiple orders on the grill or in the deep fryer at once and then toss all of the ingredients loosely onto plates.
