Yeah, I totally get your point here and I agree. I am also emotionally traumatised by the damage that has been done to my SEN children being shoehorned into a school system that does not have the funding, facilities, training or compassion to treat them as people, much less to help them fulfil their potential.

Speaking from experience, forcing disabled kids into settings that are not equipped to help them survive, let alone thrive, in education has been a recipe for disaster as it is. I don't see how doing more of it will make it any better for the kids.

But then we know it's not for the benefit of the kids, is it?

Yet more anti-consumer technology to go alongside the gates that won't let you out until you scan your receipt, the ANPR in the car park, the hair-trigger scales on the bagging area, etc. All to crush that extra penny of profit from us.

About how far does this leave us from a usable quantum processor? How far from all current cryptographic algorithms being junk?

That may well be the thing I'm looking for, thanks for the pointer!

You don't understand because I didn't state why 😅 I have enough time and energy to set up and manage containerised applications. 20 years ago I might have had the drive to set up a local dev version, manage the dependencies and set up local init scripts, but not anymore.

KDE Connect is a great idea, thanks!

I make use of sharedrop.io to quickly share files between phones and computers on my LAN. Does anyone know of a self-hosted alternative, preferably containerised with Docker?

I don't know where you live, but if you have a Hado arena nearby, then a taster session might be a good gift. It's an augmented reality sport which can be played casually or professionally. There are arenas all over the world.

Unfortunately their world site is a little out of date. I know quite a few kids in my area of the UK, at around that age, who are getting into it.
