Basically title. How does one go about pairing third party services like streaming services to a mini PC so that you can stream it on your dumb / degoogled TV? I don't really know how TVs work, much less mini PCs, so if anybody could dumb it down for me I'd appreciate it. What does your setup look like, if you have a dumb TV (e.g running kodiTV without network connection)?

I use the Firehawk site, but whenever I enter an ARL (premium/family) it tells me I can't log into deemix-gui. Anybody have a solution or idea why this happens?

At risk of sounding stupid, I need some pointers on how to set up a Wi-Fi router and make it as private and secure as possible.

To sound even more stupid, I don't really know what PiHole is, or why some people route their traffic through a VPN. I suppose my main questions are these:

• What Wi-Fi router should I get?
• How do I configurate it as somebody who is somewhat privacy-conscious but not very tech-savvy?

I don't really know how regular Wi-Fi routers work, what the common worries are, how/if data is at risk of being leaked, and so on. So, any pointers would be appreciated! Feel free to direct me to any privacy guides, as well. Cheers!

Not sure if I used the correct terms but what is the difference in security and privacy between downloading from a public wifi (or a closed wifi; with password) and mobile hotspot (sharing 4G/5G data from your phone to your computer)? Which one is recommended or does it not matter?

Like the stupid newbie goober I am, I forgot the first step to downloading music: do it in a public setting with a public wifi. Ended up downloading it all at home off of our private wifi. Did use a VPN but forgot to switch it from my home country. Kind of wondering how easy it is to trace me and persecute me for this. I am not the one handling the ordeal with the wifi, that would be my lovely mother.

Do I use a website to download songs off of YouTube or Spotify?

Where should I store the music? I haven't any clue about self-hosting. I'm running GrapheneOS, is it enough to save the songs in Files and play in an app like Auxio? Maybe sync with SyncThing?

What's the best way to compress mp3 files but still retain the quality (even possible)?

Could really use some help as I'm very inexperienced. :)

Y'all know of any other FOSS clients for Spotify other than Spotube? It's rather slow for me the times I've used it, so here I am asking for alternatives. Would be using it on my Android phone. Cheers!

Hi y'all. Disclaimer I'm 1) running GrapheneOS, 2) returning go Android after many years of using iPhone.

Maybe I'm stupid, but I find it way harder to paste image links (inserting the image) on Android than iPhone.

I find an image on the web, press it and select "Share" then "Copy image with link". Except the link won't appear. It does not exist in my clipboard. Weirdly enough, I can paste it in this post and Voyager will automatically convert it to an image.

I think I'm stupid because this shouldn't be hard. I insert images using urls all the time to avoid downloading a bunch of files. Is it an issue with Vanadium? The OS? Me? Point me in the right direction.

It frequently marks the text as red in my native language but never in English (unless there is a real error in the text). Anybody know why? See image below...

Forgive me for this stupid question. I just transitioned from iPhone to Pixel (GrapheneOS) and I'm curious why there isn't a built in PDF viewer like on iPhone? It feels like you have to open things externally pretty often, but I figure there's a reason for that. I haven't used Android in many years and I recently developed an interest for the technical aspects of things, so again, do forgive this beginners question.

Do you think using the GrapheneOS operative system is useless if the user plans to/needs to install Play Store apps anyway?

I think I'm not alone in feeling this way, but sometimes I feel a sense of imposter syndrome because I'm not perfectly private and am dependent on some Play Store apps. This has caused me to question if the transition to GOS is meaningful at all.

I have not any prior experience with installing custom ROMs, but after trying it out (and getting stuck, and googling and finding answers) I successfully did it. Below is my home screen if anybody is curious:

I use OpenBoard for my keyboard. Unfortunately I am still dependent on Play Store since some of the apps I need can only be found there. Sometimes it feels meaningless committing to this whole thing because I'm not perfectly private; then I think this is better than using a regular iPhone or Android phone.

So far I'm liking it. I am naturally inclined to feel hesitant about using this as my main phone and plugging in a SIM since it's custom, but I'm slowly making the transition.

Feel free to share any beginners advice or your own experience using GOS for the first time. Cheers!
