I have an air popper for work and I have a whirly pop at home. I love the ease of the air popper, but the whirly pop is far better and gives you a chance to play with different oil, temps, etc.

I thought Glenn Beck was satire. Watched it several times and then one day .. wait, that's not a joke?

I can't even remember which things I read about and which things I experienced.

I do think it's shifted from people to groups. Still has 'my cousin's new baby' but also much more hobbies, cities, marketplace, and political groups.

I'm in Texas in a blue bubble - more than i had realized i guess. 80% of the people i know are blue. I work in public education, so most of the red people i know were considering voting blue because of the push for school vouchers. I rarely see maga stuff and the yard signs around me were 80% Harris. Because of that i was completely shocked last Tuesday by the popular vote and it's left me kind of disoriented. My husband works in redville, so he's disgusted and exhausted. My adult sons are sad, mad, scared. My DIL has called me crying a few times - her parents are trumpsters and she wants to cut them out. Luckily we have enough cash on hand to help the kids get passports ASAP and enough savings to briefly go out of state/country if she needs healthcare. I 70% believe that Republican infighting will slow them down and it won't be as bad as feared, 30% ready for the leopards!

I don't think mine shows weather. Is there a setting for that somewhere?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 days ago

"Why is there so much yarn everywhere?!"

Two weeks later when the weather cools off - "Can you make a hat for me?"

My husband always says, "Stop biting me!" but I think he's faking.

Where are you coming from? Nasa in Houston is cool. Galveston is close- it's not the prettiest beach, but it's fun. San Antonio - i think it's the best Texas city - Alamo, tacos, etc. New Orleans for music and beignets - if you stay overnight, I'd get off bourbon Street before midnight - last time i was there the late night crowds had increased leading to more fights.

ETA - Austin is ok, but If you go a little west of Austin, you'll be in Hill country which is pretty. There's a little german town called Fredericksburg. It's kind of fun and may have their Christmas decorations out. Near Fredericksburg there's Alstadt Brewery and Garrison Brothers whiskey distillery. Garrison is really nice with rocking chairs around fire pits and you may see deer and burros. Free to visit, you can buy whiskey samples by the flight, they have food there now too, I think the tour is about 20 bucks.

Behind the Bastards podcast does shows on both, i believe.

Period expected in 2 days can mean it's time to change your water filter or clean out your fridge or whatever. And the symptoms can be used to mean something else

I work in a public school district and i visit about a dozen different schools. Bosses are making us share our calendars, thinking they'll be able to track us and catch us doing something wrong. I'm planning to add "started my period" every couple of weeks. Are there other good outlook tricks to fuck with them?

ETA- This is my work calendar, not my personal calendar. I know that seems reasonable but it's being done as a petty micromanagement tactic. There are about 20 of us in my department who drive from school to school every day working with kids with physical disabilities. They don't just want to know when we're in meetings - they want every minute of our day to be accounted for - 8 to 830 school A, 840 to 11 school B, etc. I go to 14 schools. If my kid at school A is absent or if i get a call from school J that i need to stop by to fix a wheelchair, am I supposed to pull over and update my calendar so they can find me? I could spend an hour a day in parking lots editing my calendar. Most days i eat lunch in my car between schools. Last year they made a rule that we can't carry to-go cups because it looks like we have enough free time to drive thru Starbucks. It's just to be controlling.

I popped into r/ today to read about furniture and now I'm feeling kinda dirty. Maybe i should donate to lemmy as penance.

Cleaning out my mom's house. I hate to trash things that may be useful to someone else and some of it's probably worth some $$. I've used Facebook marketplace a couple of times. I've heard of OfferUp and LetGo but haven't used them. Where will i get the best response and $? Should i just pile it all up and do an online estate sale instead? TIA. Also, if anyone has done this and has any general tips, please share.

My 10 year old pup is going blind. We've been in the same house for most of her life and she's doing ok, but I'm worried it's going to get more difficult for her. She's not the smartest, but she can sit, lie down, and shake on command. I've read several articles about scent training but would like to get tips from someone who has done it. I'm thinking of using 4 different scents for bed, toys, stairs, and food/water - i know she can smell the food, but i want to make sure she can find the water bowl when she's outside. Is that too many?

One article recommended marking a path on the floor/ground so she knows where there's a clear route. Another suggested marking furniture/obstacles so she knows where to avoid.

If you have any experience with this and can offer tips, i would appreciate it. Also, if you want to share any happy stories about your VI pets, i would love to hear them. It's heartbreaking to see her misjudge the doorway or bonk into things.

Have you ever been asked to participate in a political poll? Do you know of anyone who has?

Sick and feel like I've hit the end of Netflix, Prime, ... Is there a community about what everyone is streaming/recommending?

Boss is going away for a few days and we're trying to create a fun surprise for when she returns. Our offices are all shared so it has to be limited to a small area and can't impact other people toooo much.

It was initially used by BP to shift blame to consumers instead of oil companies.

I keep seeing people comment that Lemmy is mostly men in their 20s and 30s. That's not my demo and many of the posts/comments i see don't seem to fit that.
