I think your problem is that you think it is as defeat. It’s a win, your learned something new and the other person spent his time for you. In these cases I am thank them regardless.

I am on kbin.social, and in terms of seeing and posting, I see no problem.
Nothing beats collection of beer/cola can's pull tabs for recycling competition at schools. That forces children to ask parents to buy more of the six packs so that they could have the tabs.

I think you have misread the comment you replied to.
Just wanted to say that what instance you are in, nearly does not matter in fedeverse. Unless that instance with users becomes defederated, you can access all other communities.
I am not arguing with that, I am simply explaining the idea behind the OP, which apparently was missed.
I actually found that if you are polite and thank person when you learn something new, the dickerry decreases. If you behave combative, then it stays high. Your choice, of course, but you may want to try it. Internet is a strange place, where normally good people start behaving aggressive, insulting others, but I found that quite often it can be corrected - you just have to take first step.
