The main think about the cpu is having a tpm. You can add one to the motherboard via pci, or your mobo may have one built in.

It’s been a while but I’m pretty sure it was 8th gen intel that included a tpm in the cpu by default.

Hello from a third would country 👋

Most people here buy computers used that are already pretty old. I can’t see windows cutting off support without offering some kind of upgrade path to this old hardware. Otherwise there will be millions of people used unsupported devices.

Yeah it’s what the other person said essentially.

If your computer is more than 4-5 years old, then you likely can’t upgrade to windows 11.

My computer made the cut by a single cpu generation. If it were a year older I’d be out of luck.

My computer is still way more power than I need and will have it for years to come.

If my computer were just a year older, I’d be in the same boat if not needing a new computer for years, but not have access to a secure system.

In addition, i can afford a new computer, but I wouldn’t spend the money on a new computer just to have security updates.

I live in a 3rd world country and I can promise you that this is going to lead to a large percentage of the population using an insecure version of Windows 10 or just using mobile devices.

I doubt many people here will switch to Linux, but I can only hope. Maybe businesses will do that instead of buying new hardware. Recently, I saw a shop using Banana Pis as their checkout terminal.

If you add an item to your cart but don’t buy it right away, you will sometimes see a discount that it meant to encourage you to buy it.

Also consider the people who have needle phobias. My heart starts to race before getting a vaccine. If I have to give a blood sample I will faint.

I’m getting woozy talking about this.

Why are democrats winning? The republican voter base makes decisions that directly affects their health in a negative way.

That would be great. I’d love to use that platform as a way to discuss books.

I work freelance but occasionally needed to partner with artists and other stuff. But I now use various “ai” projects and no longer need to pay people to do the with as the computer can do it good enough.

I’m not some millionaire, I’m just a guy trying to save money to buy a house one day, so it’s not like a large economic impact, but I can’t be the only one.

I'm sure you know, but I want to add to this in case others do not.

These product lines are usually really poor quality. They might look like the original and have a similar model number, but a TV, for example, will have less ports, lower resolution screen, or a lower quality screen.

So, if it is an electronic, look up the model number and if you can't see a lot of reviews for it, then this is why.
