That's the thing. From what I've gathered, a lot of what he says is perfectly sensible, often age old philosophical advice. But that's how they get you. It's like Russia Today. They mix the lies with plenty of truth. If they only told lies, they would be far less convincing.

Of course, another thing Peterson does, is use expensive words to make himself sound smarter than he actually is. If you have a related degree or spend a little time on wikipedia, you'll notice he's often talking nonsense. But to the layman, Jordan sounds like he's a great intellectual. I don't think he's deliberately trying to scam his followers, I think he earnestly wants to help them. I'm willing to believe he means well. It's just that he's like a respected doctor who thinks he knows better than his lawyer and ends up getting himself convicted. He may be an expert in his field of expertise, but he clearly isn't outside that field. He often sounds like an overeducated idiot. There are plenty of those in academia, unfortunately.

If anything, I find it a damning indictment of society (and the media), that a run of the mill motivational speaker can become so popular.

Thanks. Useful for the next time I see someone posting this kind of nonsense.

Why do these articles always go on about stuff being sold out like it means something? Even if it's true, that almost certainly means they've simply been bought up by resellers.

I recently needed a plumbing part. Obviously no one's getting excited about plumbing parts. That was also 'sold out' on the manufacturers website.

In reality there are a thousand resellers selling the thing. Manufacturer doesn't need to have large warehouse or deal with a large number of customers. Resellers get to make a profit by selling for more than the large order unit price they paid. Customers like me get to buy the product at less than the original small order price the manufacturer was asking.

Ugh. Very relateable.

To give you an idea, I'm 2m/6ft6, do weight lifting and I'm not particularly worried about the size of my dick. I may be insecure about many things, but not about my manliness.

Anyway, these kind of insecure men always try to out macho me. It's so fucking tiring. I'm basically straight (never say never), but I like stuff these kinds of men often find gay, because I'm not an anti-intellectual moron who has the maturity of a 12 year old boy or cares too much about what other people think. It's like they want to whip out their dicks and measure each other all the time. What kind of manchild cares so much about what other people think, that they can't listen to classical music, dress nicely, or read a book? As you say, these men are too weak to have opinions of their own or stand-up to authority.

They're so deeply insecure, it's fucking sad. Pathetic even. Not that I feel much sympathy for them, especially the older ones who've had time to mature, because they inevitably cause you grief. They're at best annoying, but can be outright dangerous. The whole machismo, kiss the boot, contempt for the weak thing is a toxic cocktail. No surprise who they vote for either, always love to suck the dick of a strong leader who tells them they're better than someone else.

You know those Harvard implicit association tests? They have one for racism, but they also have one for homophobia. Certainly not without their flaws, but I took one. Turns out I have a bias against straight people. No mystery how that happened, given so many men are toxic.

You joke, but going back to the ancient greeks that traditionally wasn't seen as 'gay' or feminine, no. A top is dominant, therefore more masculine. A bottom is submissive, therefore feminine.

Still a thing to this day.

I'll be honest, I'm glad I'm older, and less worried about that kind of shit and can just be me.

To be fair, having sex with women is pretty gay. They're girly, weak and smell nice.

Nothing more masculine than two smelly men fucking each other in the arse. Dominating this guy who's just as strong if not stronger than you, then enduring the pain of Big Jim's rod penetrating you, because you're a manly man who's made of tougher stuff.

Wearing boots isn't particularly feminine, is it?

Sounds more like plain old vanity.

Super car acceleration, normal car braking.

It's not a great combination in a car that's heavy, but I guess you don't sell cars by bragging about braking distances.

The iPod was released in 2001. Back then it was mac only. Creative offered MP3 players with more storage earlier.

The real innovation was pairing it with itunes, allowing you to be able to organise your music collection, convert cds, etc. That and the itunes store a few years later.

The form factor was different though. Large storage, truly portable.
