Who would buy a washing machine with internet access? Why? Not feeling like you are giving enoigh of your privacy and personal data to Google or FB or Apple? They should just sign up to TikTok, much cheaper.
It is fairly good for what it is, lots of things missing but I will certainly take it. Use it often. Recommend.
There are other apps on F-Droid that use Exodus that do sort of the same. At least they do not ask for root.

Some of them still work. But as you edited in, they are likely rate limited.
My own and as a side piece, also Tutamail and Proton but only on their free tier.
If you are good at navigating the web on uBlock Medium Mode, and are okay doing the initial "troubleshooting," to unbreak first time visits to websites, then you probably do not need it. I mean, most trackers won't run without JS. Also, on Medium mode, you get to see most ad companies' domains which you can then just block Globally. You can also use uBlock's selector tool to remove specific parts of a webpage. I find that I use it a lot to remove cookie prompts and others, like YT prompts. So I can use it without having to sign on and remove the anti-adblock prompts.
Albeit there is some overlap, I use still uBlock on Medium Mode along uMatrix since I need a bit more granular control on the sites I use. On top of LibreRedirect to avoid some of the biggest data miners.

Use uBlock. Either with a list or learn to use the selector tool to remove the overlays/scripts directly. That is what I do for the GF's PC so she can watch YT.

Agreed. Micro-blogging, is more top down info downstreaming. While the forum/community focuses on information exchange on a more even keel level.
I remember the good old days when FF almost hit 30%.
