I'll implant a bullet in my head before any tech directly touches my neurons.

I used to use Liftoff, I changed to Jerboa when my instance upgraded to 0.19.
It has dark mode, landscape, and support for multiple accounts. It's open-source if that's the kind of thing that tickles your fancy. Also, it's by the same dev as lemmy itself so compatibility shouldn't be an issue going forward.
Hasn't been updated since the summer, and doesn't work with versions 0.19 of lemmy or newer. I heard the dev had twins, which yeah fair enough take all the time off your open source lemmy app.
There's zspotify which is the only one I know of, but on the rare occasion I want to download an album I just use doubledouble.top
Stop, we're just on the verge of electing our Trump-like politician. I've had to cut out US political news because the prophecies are too foreboding.
We usually just import American issues but with a 2 to 5 year delay.
It runs Android TV, so you just need to get the APK onto your TV. You can download a file manager from the Play store (I use X-Plore) and use that to install the APK from via USB. Alternatively, you could download a web browser from the Play store (I use TV Bro) and download the APK directly on the TV.
Can we just stop? I think we've gone too far. I say we take like a week or two, where no one's allowed to sell or buy anything. Just taking a breather, and realizing how exhausting all of this is.
If you ever get around to it, let me know. I'd buy you a drink!
It's not really advertised or intuitive in any way, so that doesn't surprise me. In fact, I have no recollection of how I came upon this feature. Maybe I discovered it in a fever dream, maybe it was on a lifehacker.com listicle. I'm not even sure it's supposed to be a feature, for all we know it could be an odd quirk, some legacy code in explorer.exe. The inner machinations of Windows are an enigma.
I could just send the link, but I'd rather it be displayed directly in the chat. In any case, this was just an example. When I wanted to upload my avatar to lemmy, I had to download the image I found online and then upload it via the file picker. It'd be more convenient to just point the file picker directly to the URL of where the image is hosted in the first place, which Windows' file picker dialog allows (or at least it did on Windows 7).
If you don't wanna faff about on a PC to obtain movies/TV shows, Stremio (+Torrentio addon and a Real-Debrid subcription) is probably the smoothest piracy experience you could get on a tablet.
If you're fine with doing it manually, you could just install Libretorrent to download stuff and VLC to play the files.
