I doubt it's a real thing that has a name. I tried asking chatGPT about it and it said it's called melodic masking / auditory masking but I didn't really find any information that matches my experience.

It's not that I don't hear the vocals, I just struggle to register it as language. It just sounds more like yet another instrument.

No more than any other cable.

Personally, I never have my radio on in the car and I near-always back into parking slots.

I don't know what the vast majority of songs I listen to are about. I have some genetic defect that makes it near impossible to hear lyrics. It all sounds like melody to me.

If you're using browser you can add this to your adblock custom filters. Just make sure the instance matches the one you're using so incase of OP, replace lemm.ee with lemmy.world

lemm.ee##div.post-listing:has(span:has-text("/Trump/i"))

Do you apply this same logic to Gaza considering their leadership?

I haven't ever needed to wait. I go in, hand them my ID, they cross my name off the list, hand me the ballot, I go to the booth and write a number, dude stamps it, I drop it to the box and I'm out. Takes about 3 minutes from when I step out of my car untill I'm back in again.

I've always just muted users instead of blocking anyway. I don't care if they see what I post. I just want them out of my sight

So Twitter is one step closer to being like Lemmy

Adblocker works on twitter too though, and I don't really mind Elon profiting from my use of Twitter anyway. People should be compensated for running social media platforms like twitter.

I post gay porn. The number or right-wing rednecks that follow me with their public profiles is.. confusing.

I often get the sense that I'm in the only one here doing manual labor but I'm sure there are others.

Identify yourselves.

I read that half of Americans couldn’t cover an unexpected $1,000 expense. This sounds crazy to me. I understand that poverty exists, but the idea that an adult with a job doesn’t even have that amount saved up seems really strange.

What’s your relationship or philosophy with money? What do you credit for your financial success, or alternatively, what do you blame for your failures?

For the extra brave ones: how much savings do you have, and what are you planning to do with them?

Personally I'd say cave diving. I was contemplating between that and free ~~climbing~~ soloing but I honestly rather fall to my death than drown in a claustrophobic, dark, cold, silted up cave.

Browsing social media, it’s apparent that people are quick to point out problems in the world, but what I see less often are suggestions for how to solve them. At best, I see vague ideas that might solve one issue but introduce new ones, which are rarely addressed.

Simply stopping the bad behaviour rarely is a solution in itself. The world is not that simple. Take something like drug addiction. Telling someone to just stop taking drugs is not a solution.

Do you have a criteria for what qualifies as block-worthy offence or are you just doing it when you feel like it?

Bonus question: how long is your block list?

Is it simply: involuntarily celibate, or does it come with a package?

To me, "incel" has always meant someone who’s simply just celibate against their will, but it feels like the term now also implies a specific worldview or even a subculture. Does identifying as an incel automatically come with those negative beliefs around gender and society, or should those two have separate terms? Has the definition changed?"
