Dunno why there'll be a need to segregate single units. I think all bathrooms should be single units.
UK Politics
General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both [email protected] and [email protected] .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
[email protected] appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(
I think we should just get rid of all public toilets. Everyone doing their business out in the open obviates all questions of segregation and means there will be witnesses if anyone gets out of hand. We could still have dedicated areas for it, perhaps in places like Kensington & Chelsea.
So should we all be making sure the mixed sex toilets are the most used until they need more mixed than single to cope?
We should not forget the original aim of the ruling which is genocide. That last part about introducing mixed-sex toilets in thanks to public protests. They work. Keep up with public protests until the ruling is reversed.
What ethnic group is being systematically murdered here?
Not an ethnic group but transgender people are the targets of genocide. It doesn't start with systematic killings. It ends there, and denying them medical treatment is already systemic killing, only indirect.
If taken beyond interim guidance and made statutory, it would be the biggest human rights disaster since racial segregation and apartheid.
What?
When black people couldn't use the same bathrooms as white folk. Here, Trans women including those post op for 20 - 30 years are not allowed to use the women's bathroom and have to use the men's. Likewise, a trans man, born woman, that has been a man for decades has to use the women's bathroom.
Wasn't sure it needed to be spelt out, but needs to be to understand how ridiculous all this is (because of a court case in Scotland about women's representation on boards). Shocking how many rights got trashed with that and how many transhobic politicians got excited.
I think it's like comparing apples and oranges.

According to the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, you have to be born as a woman in order to be a woman.
