Can we join forces and spam X with a flood of Informative deep fakes of select individuals?

[–] [email protected] 29 points 3 hours ago

"what do you mean we can't use fake misleading videos to fuck democracy?"

[–] [email protected] 22 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

How isn't this immediately a red flag?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 hour ago

There are so many flags right now it’s just a sea of red undulations. Done by design, so that we don’t notice the death of democracy.

This is what the right is doing, while the DNC is censuring their own members for simply encouraging democrats to run against their own apathetic incumbents.

Why would they want to "influence elections"?

Sounds shady.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 5 hours ago

It's a huge part of the business model. Social Media is valuable for its data on people, and for its ability to manipulate and influence people.

[–] [email protected] 46 points 12 hours ago

Cool. Let's go with criminal impersonation, defamation, and slander/libel instead them!

X’s lawsuit claims the law’s “requirements are so vague and unintelligible that social media platforms cannot understand what the statute permits and what it prohibits.”

The issue with this argument is that social media platforms aren't required to enforce it? https://www.sos.mn.gov/media/5626/deep-fake-overview.pdf

does anyone have the actual written law? it is hard to argue using summaries or even opinion pieces of musky boy.

IAs far as I read this correctly, the law prohibits creating such media but does not hold the websites accountable for publishing the media.

It does indeed sound vague as to what the social media site should do.

"The rules were that you guys weren’t going to fact-check."

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 hour ago

Delivering that line with such glee like he thought he had some sort of high ground.

Makes me sick.

"You guys aren't gonna use AI for bad stuff, right?"

Tech oligarchs: whaaaaaat no we actually want to be regulated because of how dangerous this technology is!! Also tech oligarchs:

[–] [email protected] 105 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Remember when this stuff was called "the quiet part', and it was considered bad when you said it out loud?

Yeah...good times.

Next up: Elmo challenges laws that prohibit murder and child pornography, all in the name of a better world!

[–] [email protected] 72 points 16 hours ago

What a fucking chode.

If you need it to be legal to deepfake to manipulate politics you’re the problem.

[–] [email protected] 73 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Here the guy that was going to leave politics and go back to Tesla.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Now now, fElon was simply placating Tesla investors on a very dark earnings call day.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 15 hours ago

Somehow I think they all wish for him to stay as far from the Tesla brand as possible.

X’s lawsuit claims the law’s “requirements are so vague and unintelligible that social media platforms cannot understand what the statute permits and what it prohibits.”

Vague, overly broad laws are indeed a problem; I’m willing to give him that. ONLY that.

Unfortunately for Musk, this is not vague. If the footage is something you created or manipulated, you know perfectly damn well whether it’s legal or not. He’s trying to confuse the issue, and conflate fraud with free speech. Hopefully, the court will see right through him.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 11 hours ago

Easy solution would be for the state to show up with an AI generated video of him giving an explanation as to why he (Elon) has no clue what he is talking about and this is obviously the greatest law ever.

Or maybe take the opposite stance…lol

Elon Musk, Republican President who is literally BANKROLLING THE ENTIRE REPUBLICAN PARTY, SUING because he can't Create Fake News with AI, is PROOF that DEMOCRATS are the Fake News!

[–] [email protected] 4 points 11 hours ago

Musk is holding the Democrats smoking gun!

[–] [email protected] 23 points 15 hours ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 48 points 17 hours ago

And the Fake News crowd goes wild! By the way, that's conservatives and all of their media.

[–] [email protected] 34 points 16 hours ago

“How will we win if we can’t cheat?”

[–] [email protected] 8 points 14 hours ago

Gee, I wonder why.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

"Wait a minute. Are we the baddies?"

[–] [email protected] 8 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

I can place a pretty hefty bet that this thought has not visited Elmos head.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 12 hours ago

I don’t think good and bad are concepts he is capable of understanding, like empathy.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 16 hours ago

They did more than influence the past election, and have plans to do the same in the upcoming ones... so ofcourse any regulation against these plans must be taken away.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

MAY I LIE TO INFLUENCE ELECTIONS? yes, but.... FUCK YOU, I'LL LIE ANYWAY ON AN OVERLY ADVERTISED AND PROMOTED PLATFORM EVERYONE IS FORCED TO USE

[–] [email protected] 1 points 12 hours ago

How are people forced to use it. I’ve never used it.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 15 hours ago

Elon, go crawl into a hole and stay there for the rest of your life. Ok?

[–] [email protected] -3 points 15 hours ago

But Does he have FAS, though? This Pic!

[–] [email protected] -3 points 15 hours ago

I don't agree with it, but there's a good chance they'll win on the basis of the 1st Amendment.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 16 hours ago

If you can’t fake your way into power your standing in the way of MAGAts.
