Had my ZFold3 for 3 years, then got a used OnePlus Open

I think that foldables are "ready" now. I beat the hell out of my Fold3, and it never died. My OPO feels near perfect, no compromises other than weight

They cost too much, but second hand prices drop fast

more screen isnt worth double the price. hell, there hasnt been a feature i would need to upgrade for in like 8 years... and that was just about shitty resource use (more storage) and battery life.

Flip phones are more of a novelty to me, what I really want is to be able to dock my phone to a monitor and keyboard and have a complete desktop os without restrictions about installing applications.

There is no reason other than greed that Apple does not offer this.

They need to come down certainly. It shouldn't cost more than a high end smart phone and a decent tablet.

Would be willing to be something of a premium, but until it is in the range of a standard high end smart phone, it won't be compelling.

We're kinda there already, the OnePlus Open can be had for ~1,300 which should be about right around a "high end smartphone + tablet"

Plus, foldys have been on the market long enough now that you can snag a good deal on the used/refurb market if you're patient

I wish i could get another phone the exact same dimensions as my iPhone 4S tbh, which i consider to be the best smartphone ever made. If Samsung came out with an S series in that form factor, I'd probably go back to them.

The screen itself maybe however it is always going to be infinitely more intricate compared to a device that has no moving parts (minus buttons).
