Even if he found the hard drive is there any chance it would still be functional? I can’t see it surviving the crusher let alone 13 years in a landfill site

There's probably a movie to make with this shit.
I think last time this came up someone posted this awesome video on landfills. Paying it forward.
I feel for him, immensely.
But you can't sue local authorities for refusing access to a hazardous landfill site lol
One take I saw on it was that he has no case because the local authority were not responsible for the harm caused to him, such as it is.
Sure, he feels aggrieved because of the local authority's refusal to accede to his demands to search the landfill, but that's secondary. Had he never pursued it they would not have had to say no.
In his shoes, I'd be sick to my stomach every single day, but I might have given up sooner nonetheless. I'm pretty sure that due to sheer bloodymindedness he's now in deep with various financial backers who were hoping for a return when he succeeded... and now he owes them money.
Basically, if this doesn't stop him, I'm not sure he'll ever stop trying.
Man, that's gotta just ruin a person. Or turn them into a hoarder.
If I was fortunate enough to maximize the outcome of every financial transaction I've ever done, I'd probably be a billionaire. But that's about as probable as all the air molecules in the room going up into one corner while everyone in the room gets to experience their blood boiling. So I can't be arsed to regret anything.
