I've always used Revolution IRC, and haven't had any issues with it.

i gave up on irc clients for android and use matrix with irc bridges. elements app
I've been using Weechat-Android to connect to my self-hosted Weechat for over a decade. This is one of the killer mobile apps that keeps me on Android and I love it.
I also have a couple instances of thelounge that people use on mobile via the PWA (progressive web app).
Using a self-hosted thelounge too and, as alternative if my home connection drop or so, I have irssi in termux.
Quassel server at home and Quasseldroid to connect to it.
People are really still using IRC?
Of course, it's the best proto for chat, I use it actively everyday since 1997.
Please elaborate. I haven't heard of anyone using this since the early '00s. What's great about it?
So simple, no images, no videos, no bullshit this just works... Now mainly out of habits and because I have some friends on it... Also some nostalgia about the time internet was more than http and so on
So...the benefits are that it doesn't support media, habit, and nostalgia?
Ngl, in this day and age with ads and cookies riddled in every corner of the Internet. Irc sounds like a breath of fresh air!
There are plenty of messengers that don't have anything like that.
I just copy/pasted your post onto a search engine... wow, it works.
