A place to share alternatives to popular online services that can be self-hosted without giving up privacy or locking you into a service you don't control.

I would like to run code-server but i don't like the idea of trackers hence codium. I found this old reddit thread but it wasn't particularly helpful.

Happy to be corrected but I think code server doesn’t use the exact vscode build from microsoft

And I think the trackers you are (rightly) concerned about aren’t in code server but they have their own equivalent. You can disable the telemetry though

I saw that in the reddit thread I like codium have been using it for ages and have a bunch of plugins I like.

Afaik it uses a very similar codebase and plugins can be easily ported or might even work out of the box.

Anything that works with VSCodium works with Theia, Theia just has an optional deeper plugin system so you can completely customize it.
