Back when "The Flat Earth Society" was all about trolling and making an elaborate scientific joke and not hardcore extremist science deniers.

Can you explain this one to my ignorant ass? What's the joke?
The joke is the absurdity of a flat earth and making puns like "all around the globe" in that context and creating absurdist proof that the Earth is flat despite everyone knowing since kindergarten that it isn't.
But some people started taking it too seriously.
Oh, I guess I got that part but was expecting there to be a pun I didn't get in the "read that again slowly" text.
They either got wooooshed or are taking part on that joke ...
It is flat, you just don't see it. Gravity curves space/time into a globe.
Wait a second. Gravity doesn't exist! The flat earth is constantly accelerating! You're one of THEM!
Actually no, gravity is the behaviour we see due to warped space/time, caused by the earth's mass. Just like it causes light to bend.
Imagine claiming something as stupid as the flatness of Earth.
The first group of people will try to prove that it's round.
The second group will be triggered by the explanations of the first group. They will try to prove that Earth is geoid.
The third group will see how people who claim that Earth is round are being attacked.
The fourth group of edgelords will pretend that they believe that Earth is flat.
This ritual will continue until the myth of flat Earth is created. Isn't it funny?
That part I guess I knew, but I was expecting a pun in the arrow text and thought I was missing something. Guess I was overthinking it.
There's not much I miss about Reddit, but one of those things is a proper community to put jokes that have been run into the ground. The unnecessary arrow is one thing, but then the second reaction image really kill the otherwise mildly amusing joke.
made with mematic
Since I've seen this last time it's gotten moldy and picked up a useless arrow and a useless reaction image.
This! It clearly needs more JPEG though. Here, I fixed it: https://morejpeg.com/Image/View/ed39fea5-0150-ef11-8104-ea49aec8cc27
This joke is over 100 years old
This joke is for people who think they are smarter than people who troll the real flat eathers.
Thank you for including a reaction image so I know how to feel about it.
It could still use some red circles for the rest of us non-geniuses. I look at this and see nothing.
Unnecessary arrow tho
I wouldn’t have gotten the joke otherwise, maybe add a red circle and a laughing minion next time to be extra clear.
And comment, and attached image. This joke works with just the tweet but apparently we need to kill the frog like 8 different ways.
Well it kinda feels like that I don't need to think to understand the meme, since the required emotional response is over there as the facepalmers.
I assume this meme is just a repost from OP. It's a perfectly decent meme OP, dw we aren't bashing you down.
I thought it was "out slowly" but the arrow pointed out the stem, helping me realise the 'o' was actually a 'b'.
Okay, the arrow can stay
I'm just waiting for Elon Musk to come out as a flat earther. It's about as absurd for the CEO of an EV company to support Trump as it would be for the CEO of a space company to believe in a flat earth.
He seems like the kind of person delusional enough to claim that he invented the portal that transports you from one end of the flat world to the other to explain why planes can cross the Pacific.
You know, I really think that without that arrow and the picture of people facepalming at the bottom, I wouldn't have understood why this was funny
Wait people think this is real?
Well I know my uncle thinks the world is flat but he is from a third world country. Not sure what's up with the muricans.
Like rain on your wedding day!
Wasn't this debunked as fake ages ago?
No shit, of course this is fabricated
