Who wants to get assassinated by the federal government? Bc that's what they do to movement figureheads

This is why we must focus on empowering all workers. There are situations where a leader/manager (not in the semse we know it) is necessary, but we must also be able to function without them.

This is exactly why Bitcoin works. But it will be much harder to create a democracy than a currency

Does Bitcoin work? As anything other than scam?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Better than that, it can't break

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It would literally break if it replaced all currency. Transaction times would be either measured in months if that happened or bitcoin would consume 10x the current energy production of the entire earth.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Bitcoin only consumes spare energy that couldn't be sold for a better price to someone else

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

In that case transactions would take months if not more making it effectively useless.

It can't? So pump and dump schemes are a feature not a bug?

Bitcoin doesn't care how much people price it in dollars

The people speculating on its worth do

We are not there yet, but revolution in France will happen in the next 25 years if nothing is made to fix the flaws preventing democracy

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 year ago

What makes you say that? Why 25 years particularly?

This is more true for online spaces. Like the local anarchist group here is really active but the only online presence the members have is one has a blog and I'm semi-active on Lemmy and that's mostly it. Some people do have Facebook to keep in touch with family and friends but I have yet to meet one that's on x formerly known as twitter, reddit etc.

Tankies on the other hand are insane active online but I have yet to encounter one in real life.

I either case though you need popular support before a worthwhile revolution is even possible.

Meh I tried working with a socialist group and they were not active or doing much honestly. We are all pretty tired and scared of repurcussions while not yet broken enough down to find them worse than the alternative of doing nothing.

Honestly if there is a future that teaches history about this period of time we will be viewed collectively on the same level as the Germans who hid and didn't rock the boat during WW2.

But also, I have met 2 tankies now in real life. Both shut in antisocial boyfriends to a woman I know or is a friend of my SO and wow... I really struggle to be near them and not for the reasons you think. They are just so annoying, don't like to talk to anyone act like I'm some kind of weirdo for being able to even just talk to an employee in a store and only interested in conversations that they want to talk about exclusively and back to quiet the moment it's not that one, and they don't even make an effort to keep a conversation going. It's always someone else's job and boy does it get tiring fast.

The world is just so many closed off bubbles with no real way to get across them and start conversations. I'm not rich enough or ignorant of real issues to be with the affluent and go getters, I'm not antisocial enough for those scared of everyone. I'm not carefree enough to be with doomer partiers. Those of us that walk between the singular personality traits are rare and pushed away because everyone want to live their simple lives full of lies if that's what it takes.

Here there's not much to be afraid of so we have contacted politicians to push for our policies and stuff.

What you can do is charity work, that's a great way to meet people and do some good in one go with no risk. That's how the group I'm with got started.
