Coffee is bitter. There's shit coffee that's pretty much only bitter and nothing else, but any coffee will have bitterness.
Though I agree that "very very bitter" sounds like bad coffee.
If you don't drink bitter things regularly, then normal coffee tastes very bitter, especially if you are more sensitive to bitter taste.
Exactly, that was the point. The same coffee didn't taste bitter to me before, but after not drinking coffee for a month or so it did.
