I found that things became much more pleasant on here when I blocked hexbear. I recently blocked lemmy.ml as well, but I may reverse that if I find that I'm missing too much good content.

I'm open to other ideas on how to mostly avoid people who love conflict or argue in bad faith.

Not because I've had any kind of bad experience with users on this instance, but I don't care for the posts on lemmy.blahaj.zone. I honestly just got tired of seeing the "Rule" posts; it's like 90% of their posts!

That's a good point. Honestly I didn't notice all of those posts were from a single community, though in hindsight that makes a lot of sense.

How do you have them blocked? Is it just communities hosted there don't appear or do you not see the uswrs' comments elsewhere too?

In Settings > Blocks > Blocked Instances

I think it's just the communities that don't appear.

I guess you can't read this but I'm on lemmy.blahaj.zone and I personally blocked the rule community. It's too many posts and doesn't fit the vibe

Actually I can read this. Apparently blocking instances doesn't block their comments in communities that aren't hosted on the blocked instance.
