When you are king, communism has failed once more.

Wikipedia: A communist society would entail the absence of private property and social classes, and ultimately money and the state (or nation state)

I am all for it but people seem to have a really hard time understanding that any kind of ruling class, be it politicians or monarchs is by definition not a communist society.

I do understand what you mean.

I am not saying that the people who create digital goods don’t deserve a living. they do, all contribution to society is valid and every human deserves a humane life.

I am just morally against economic commoditization of digital goods on the web using the same currency people use to buy food and healthcare. No amount of fortnite skins and adobe licenses can compare to the value of a single small piece of bread for a starving child.

Stock pictures shouldn’t exist, when i was young uploading a picture online meant it was now free for the taking by anyone and there was absolutely no shortage of those. Now it seems whenever you search for something basic like “transparant vector image of a set of stars” all your top results are watermark and require some amount of money or data. These are the kind of images i can easily make in photoshop myself but i didn’t need to because thousands of others already did.

The diverse, creative sites for humans and by humans which used to fill my “online sources” when making school reports have seized to exist and made way for “by t, for profit” models instead.

Using watermarked pictures without paying is actually illegal yet i am fully on board and welcome this behavior.

Digital goods are infinite and therefor should be free, physical resources to survive are expensive enough as they are.

The only reason i know this is spiffing brit had to buy the stockphoto picture he was using and gave them his own watermark to stay legal.

I bet there are multiple copies of various depth by various groups including reddit themselves,. But how they will use it, wether they share it we cant really know.

Large chunks are contained within dataset for ai, we may be able to obtain or reverse engineer those.

The internet archive waybackmachine is probably the best most valid source for the public for now.

Its what we do towards people and that has been working flawlessly with no side-effects /s

We get an dedicated ai to monitor the wellbeing of the first ai. The moment it does something unexpected we pull the plug.

Though we dont know what effect that may have on ai 2 so we should probably get a third ai to…

Exactly, and even if the content uploaded disagrees and request human oversight that is just one image that needs to be checked rather then all. Ai may even be able to blur parts of footage that are most brutal and extreme and create written transcripts of audio You dont need 4k resolution and hearable screaming to understand that someone is getting murderered or Raped.

I wrote a basic script with chatgpt which downloads the latest videos from a list of channels kept in a text files, straight to jellyfin.

Still testing, but seems to be working fine so far.

The day youtube blocks adblock for me they will be removed from my bookmarks to never return.

But we’l see if it actually happens because while Netflix has been nagging. I have continued to be able to share an account so far.

Absolutely valid! I was mostly joking. Not everyone has the drive space for lossless either.

95% of the time i listen wirelessly which is limited to 320kbs anyway so in fact for most of my listens it might aswell be mp3. Using the right headphones with cable I definitely can hear the difference but convenience wins against many things.

As collector, there is something nice on owning the most complete version of an item, even if in practical listening its never that i can rest assured that as audio technology improves i can convert the original material myself with as little lost possible. That is ultimately why i recommend collecting lossless just as I equally recommend going with the flow to enjoy the music no matter the numbers.

Oof, Better watch out or you're gonna catch some .FLAC for saying egregious things like that! (Can always convert them to fit individual devices)

To add something, as you mentioned gpt-4 neurons are only a fraction of a human brain.

The entire human brain runs on 10-20 watt, thats about a single lightbulb to do all the computing needed for conscious intelligence.

Its crazy how optimized natural life is and we have a lot left to learn.

This is the way, i have not yet seen this popup on Firefox but i am taking precautions, just earlier today i got a first working script to check a file with a list of channels to download the latest video from straight to jellyfin.
