Literally yesterday i pitched to my wife that i cant wait till i have some personal drone that ca evaporate and deflect raindrops before they fall on me. Essentially creating a flying rain shield.

Did not expect to be a step closer today already.

I guess milage may vary on the road you take and your destination as i don’t use either of those.

I believe tv use is very low priority for them as its also tricky to get compatible and working, quite telling that the native ios app is from a third party with the official one being a browser wrapper.

I was considering making a separate account for my kid once they are old enough to operate the remote so thanks for the heads-up.

Curious what issues you have? In my experience plex was very annoying to work with while Jellyfin has been working stable like a charm.

Hardest part has been sideloading it on a smart tv But other then that it worked out of the box.

I do however keep everything local and offline, what really pushed me away from plex was how it kept nagging about making an account and “verifying that i own this server” ever single time i wanted to watch sm.

Enshitification going so hard I wouldn’t even pirate it.

But who am i kidding, the pirated version will likely have this crap removed, better performance without denuvo and all exclusives unlocked. Yarrrr

I actually think it was because of Greg Brockman previous head of the board that quit after hearing the news about Altman.

They told him he was vital to the company after firing Sam and removing him from the board.

Ilya their chief scientist officiated Greg and his wifes wedding. Apparantly Greg wifes pleaded to Ilya to support their return.

I think the main issue here is open ai’s stated goal of developing safe agi to benefit all of humanity, destruction of the company and not making any profit would be align with that.

However with so many player developing for profit ai catching up it is probably safter to have an openai raking risks then not having any openai at all.

Ilya probably hoped that Greg and most co workers would stay without Altman, but since they where not the outcome prospects became worse enough to regret.

FTFY: Who could've ever seen this coming? Who could've known that capitalism is a sham?

Oh, wait. Money’s merely a social construct, a game where we all agree that paper and coins mean something. If you missed that every profit chase is rigged with the same set of skewed rules, that’s on you.

I’ve come to much prefer firebox but I have used brave for a long time and people aren’t being fair

  • Shitcoins are optional got disabled on day 1 and never saw em again.

  • Worked as advertised (pun intended), fastest browser at the time and never saw a single ad.

  • Spying? Cant be worse then chrome. It is one of the reasons i am now with with firefox.

But i am not convinced firefox isnt spying somewhat too. Why can i not selfhost my browser profiles instead of syncing all my details with mozzila servers?

Good point but you are forgetting the first rule of the enshitification: “Never attribute to common sense and decency what could be attributed to inhuman levels of greed”

They may have put that in for technicians but data is money, if they can legally acquire yours they already are.

Cool story, my own tinfoil hat idea is that it was a deliberate move by the board including Altman to kill the company but largely saving their own faces.

They have said before destroying the company would be in line with their goal, to create safe ago to benefit all of humanity.

Its not unthinkable they discovered something new and decided it needed to slow down really fast to make it safe. They cant just publicly trow in the towel so Ilya known for rather eccentric behaviors takes the main blame, knowing full well that as long as Altman has a job, so will he.

The results is Altman and his openai team shift to producing ai chips with microsoft and the remainder of openai evolves into some kind of app store for gpt4 powered apps

Training of gpt5 will fail, as in the board already pulled the plug but cant say that to the new CEO, in the mean time the stuff they learned has been collected and written down for the nearfuture.

I am still not convinced this wasn’t some kind of setup. I believe they mentioned before that self destruction is a tool in line with their mission.

Ilya joins Sam at Microsoft. There will be no openAI employees on the openai board and 90% of employees leave like they say they will.

With what i have read its clear she has suffered over the course of her life and for that i am sympathetic.

But its impossible to know for sure what and how complex the source of that suffering is. That she is uttermost convinced there must be other victims from both her brothers seems inconsistent with her wider allegations systematic household abuse including from her mom.
