Same as you, I also haven't fully dipped my toes to the world of self-hosting (yet).

  1. For non-animation movies/series, I wade through the popular/trending categories or read recommendation from friends, lemmy or, god forbid, reddit. I don't really need to do this lately as my shows backlog is as long as my games backlog.
  2. For convenience always. 720p is fine for me.
  3. I stream. Unless it is one of my favorites I want to keep.
  4. Real-debrid+Stremio.
  5. Stremio does it for me. Also for anime, I have Anilist.

Applicable to everyone really, especially those that want to sell you something that sounds too good to be true.

True for English shows, I had substantially harder time finding non-English shows.

For what's it worth, I'm glad the shouty ones were leftists because otherwise I wouldn't even give lemmy a chance.

You're not using adblocker?

Edit: Just read the other commenter. Where do you watch shows with your kids? TV or Computer? If it's on Desktop or Laptop it's easy af, but Smart TV less so but not impossible.

Yeah, but who is Satan's uncle?

Hi, One Piece fan here. Yes, it's really long and really intimidating to start. I haven't watch most of the anime too, and never recomment others to watch it. I'm solely reading the manga (and live action).

I suggest waiting for the netflix anime readaptation that's in production now. Logically, it should have better pace and much less filler than the first anime. It's gonna be way easier to pick up than the first anime with its thousand episodes.

I've done and tinkered with many things in 2023 like most of us here (migrated to lemmy, degoogle, unsubscribed to streaming services, linux, etc). Some things that are less known that I think worth to mention are:

  • Using shift+right click to open the full context menu in Windows 11
  • Finally set an Address bar shortcut for searching reddit content with Google. No more typing "site:reddit.com..."
  • Anilist with TachiyomiJ2K(mobile)+Taiga(desktop)+Mal-Sync(browser extension) for maximum anime/manga tracking automation!
  • My only shame in 2023: Creating a Facebook account (anonymous account) for the messenger and local hobby groups. All I can say is Facebook seemed to intentionally obfuscate its setting/option menus because they're all scattered in different pages and just a plain mess. f u zuck
