Continue living outside of the US, which means I'm not doing anything, really. If the US were to get stupidly unstable, pull my remaining assets out and maybe try to get Visa for family to come here (Japan), but that seems unlikely to happen.

I would have to go back to reddit to get an "open in new tab" function. This username is actually because I created an account once (years ago) after nuking my first one just so I could have the "open in new tab" functionality back.
The one thing I can say for sure is that, sometimes, when I library or something has bad documentation it might be able to give a solution quicker than diving I to the source code
First time I've seen something like that, but my initial thought was: wow, that's a lot of parts that can break and things that can go wrong (compared to only encrypting the data itself before storage).
Getting out of Houston sometime after Ike. It took us something like 6+ hours to make it over to Austin (or it might have been 6 just to get out of Houston; I forget which), most of it just sitting on I-10. This was several days after the hurricane had come and gone.
Edit: and we were already starting from right around where 45 meets I-10; not even eastern Houston.
Apparently, looking at a government website:
Jennifer Jessica Amanda Sarah Melissa
Michael Matthew Jason Christopher Joshua
And this 100% lines up with my classmates', friends', and family members' names.
My former collegue used to work in it and named his daughter after her
I left the US for less raw salary but better job security and living somewhere I like more (in most respects; nowhere is perfect). Still make way above average for Japan and have a great standard of living
Depends on the type of place and where it is, but it can be cheaper. Beers here are quite expensive comparatively. I guess the caution I would give is that I've been back to the US once in the last 6 years (last summer), so things may have changed a lot there that I'm unaware of.
I worked with someone like that until she wanted to buy a house. Banks looked at her claimed income and gave a hearty "lol, no". She started claiming all her tips after that. I don't remember what happened after that (this was like 2003ish)
As a kid who lived on dry cereal, even after getting adult teeth in, everything seems to be fine here.
Lots of stuff in Japan still runs Ruby/RoR, though I think it is slowly being replaced
