There is incentive to make you view many pages and see items. I imagine that is the highest priority.
With structured item data and putting things in correct categories (and the marketplace actually enforcing products follow this system), searching could be much better. However, it's cheaper to not do that and, combined with my above educated guess, we are where we are now.
I try to use websites with better, more-detailed search for this reason.
Not just scraping data but spreading disinfo and radicalizing people. There was one case recently I saw about that. Not just AI lovers, but potentially a number of AI applications
No. Meta is a terrible company in my opinion and I refuse to give them a view or a cent. Same reason I really want to get into VR, but won't buy their headsets.
I'm not going to give the fediverse my address and ask it where the closest dentist/clinic/restaurant is. Also, even if I did, 見る人がほとんどわからないかも。
I keep trying to click but I get SSL_ERROR_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG on all lemmy.today links and malwarebytes thinks the site is compromised (and has for at least weeks if not months). Hrm.
Edit: I was hoping someone might have something helpful to say as to why this might be, but sure just downvote instead.
I did it. US -> Japan. I decided in the early 2010s I was going to do it, came for a bit, failed to get a visa, saved money, finished uni, and came again. It was surreal watching the 2016 election and everything thereafter. I've visited the US (I don't know that I'd call it 'home' anymore) twice since I've been here, and probably won't be going back again unless it's to take care of family or a funeral.
Were I to do it all over again, I may have chosen Norway or Finland instead. I already have some knowledge of Germanic languages so the former wouldn't be hard to learn. For Finnish, I think the case system is the only hurdle I'd have. That said, in my mid-40s and having just bought a house, I don't think I'm going anywhere. If we ever get out of farming (or can take a year off before we get livestock on top of crops), My wife and I might live in Canada, Australia, or some combination of the two for some number of months.
I usually have some kind of instant noodles and chili oil about. That typically will get me through. I also have some canned/frozen stuff that goes fine with rice (which we always have cooked (and I don't know that hitting a button on a rice cooker and walking away counts as 'cooking')).
I've only ever activated it by accident (I think it's double-click the power button on my phone). Never actually used the thing.
Antibiotics. All of the antibiotics. Textbooks, dictionary, precious metals, etc.
How long would it take to burn one? I remember when CD writers came out, and burning a disk at 1x meant the 60-70 minute wait.
As a back-up solution, I do like it. I'm wondering what the cost will be.
die unless qw(perl did it first);
