I live in a state where the presidential race is locked in, and has been for my entire life. I know which party is going to take all of our electoral votes, every single time, no matter what I do. If I vote for a third party and help them get 20% of the popular vote (however unlikely that is) they'll be guaranteed a spot in the debates and on the ballots of all 50 states in 4 years. Its the only way for my vote to potentially matter at all.

I'd actually like it if it was backslash for local paths and forward slash for remote paths. But if you connect to a cifs share, it still uses backslashes, so the whole thing seems pointless

I spent a week there. We stayed with my girlfriends grandfather, in a gated community in Bayonne. He had to keep a huge garbage can full of water in the shower because the power was constantly going out, also it was unbelievably hot despite being late October, there were ants all.over everything and the gas/electric were obscenely expensive. It's beautiful. The people were nice. The food was amazing and I've never had a better cup of coffee. But live there? Nah.

What's a movie that feels out of its era? Either ahead or behind of its time. Or movies that don't seem like they would've been made then in c/[email protected]

Regardless of who created the underlying tech, the internet is the result of taking ARPAnet, a US department of defense project, public. The US absolutely created the internet. There's nothing stopping other countries from using those techs, bypassing IANA, and creating their own networks if they don't like the US controlling the backbone of the network they created.
