It's like a graveyard of companies that Microsoft has acquired over the years. Sharing files is one brand name (Sharepoint if i recall), making video calls is another name, planned events is another - every function has a brand name to it, which made me feel like these were the last remaining trace of long-absorbed companies.

But that's just my recollection, i haven't touched Teams since Covid

The owner of my laundromat claims that it's cheaper to do your laundry there than at home. At first i thought "of course a laundromat owner would say that", but then he argued that his machines are more efficient than the ones we buy and that they are collectively heated.

I still think he's fulll of shit because he only argued about energy costs, not including his rent taxes or profit; but it did get me thinking that it would be cheaper and more efficient to wash our clothes collectively.

I've never really been able to leave my zits alone, if i see one and don't pop it i can't stop thinking about it. So yeah i've been popping my zits into napkins since always and it's kinda fine, it wouldn' be fine if i got more though.

That's my skincare routine in its entirety.

I think so too, but like i said there's only so many computers that you can find a use for.

I think. That wasn't a challenge, don't prove me wrong

Honestly, i predict people and businesses will keep using Win10 years after it's become unsafe. We've all seen the local warehouse still running Windows 7, i'm thinking that scenario but for millions of users.

That's a cybersecurity problem, but what i'm most concerned with is the e-waste problem, because there's still going to be a lot of users that do replace their PC. There aren't enough Linux users to buy all the computers that will be rendered obsolete, and there won't be by then either. I myself am a new Linux user but i'm already covered, i don't need more computers, not even for cheap.

I just really hope this doesn't end with millions of good computers landfilled or parted. The third world already buys a lot of our e-waste, so i hope they'll get a crapton of relatively good computers for cheap and run either Win10 or Linux

Staying off of social media is actually the default for billionaires, they tend to stay out of the limelight. We just happen to have a few that like the attention.

All of my media companies just say what i want on their own, the fact that i own them is on the back of their minds and makes them self-censor without me needing to say anything. I just hire a manager that i know agrees with my opinions, he then proceeds to hire journalists that agree with our opinions, and they proceed to do what looks like propaganda without anyone needing to be told to do it.

I don't tell my media companies what to report because there's no need to, and if i did then there would be a paper trail.

A goddamn dishwasher. I used to wash a lot of dishes by hand growing up so it took until my 30's before i realized that dishwashers are a wonderful invention.

These days, everything is kind of a thing. You can find people cosplaying 1920's jazz bands.

Pre-christian pagan cultures (Celts, Goths etc), but neo-nazis are also fans of those so you get to share with them.

Almost always my movies even though i have tons of music, and always the most obscure shit. I have Disney movies and Breaking Bad, but people go for the auteur french sci-fi animated features.

Soulseek gives me much the same joy of sharing as torrent does, perhaps more so because it's one-on-one with a username instead of an IP.

It's very easy to contribute to Soulseek as opposed to torrent, you just mark your shared folders. I think there's probably more content as a result, at the cost of the inefficiency of multiple people offering the same thing. Which i'm not sure matters.

I don't know if the rooms are really worth it. You only get the messages starting when you logged in, so you can't catch up to what happened before; this problem is particularly relevant because most rooms are dead; those that aren't dead consist of a lot of vicious arguments; and it's live chat anyway, never my favorite format for discussion.

I prefer Soulseek to eMule just because it works, but i also found it simpler.

Unfortunately my VPN doesn't play well with Soulseek, apparently it doesn't support port forwarding? I'm not sure how to fix this. It may in fact have been a problem when torrenting too the whole time and i didn't notice.

Overall i really enjoy Soulseek and will probably always have it in the background, it's pretty great!

According to Wikipedia, the lastest version of eMule was released in 2010, but "official forum users" developed an updated version as of 2017.

Is this information up to date? Is that still true? I'd feel a lot better installing something on my computer that was last updated at least in this decade, which version of eMule should i pick, if any?

EDIT: i'm downloading this.

Thanks everyone!
