Trying to set barriers seems logical when it comes to outsiders. But, spying by its nature is constant attempts to sneak past barriers, so attempts aren't going to stop. It'd just be called collaboration instead of spying if information was shared freely and spying would be unnecessary.

Maybe we have a different definition of deter. I don't see it as stop, but trying to make it less easier. Why would spies stop trying to spy? I don't expect that number to change. If it did that would be some pitiful spies.

Not saying it is okay. Pointing out that even if hypocritical there's generally a strategic reason for countries to deter international spying. Would be quite a puzzling decision for any country to provide an open door for other countries to spy on them.

I think most countries spy on their citizens and a lot of the same countries probably don't want other countries doing the same due to possible unwanted intel leaks in government and corporate sectors.

Yeah was happy to see it solved in only a day.

If that does happen and adblocker doesn't work one work around that works for twitch will probably be vpn to a country where ads aren't shown.

If you have iOS and airplay support you can use safari to airplay YouTube to the TV. I use the 1blocker and sponsorblock extension for safari.

Freetube on desktop has been working somewhat being able to switch to invidious. But for Android I've fallen back to Firefox + Ublock Origin + Sponsorblock.

To add on to this for iOS/macOS/iPadOS if you use safari you can send YouTube to your TV through airplay. Skips all the ads and if you use sponsorblock skips that too, so if you are too lazy to install smart tube this is a setup that works nicely.

I'm not affected since I use freetube and newpipe. This affects people who were actually paying and watching YouTube logged in but not people like me.

I see YouTube style as the ones that are formulic with the plea to like and subscribe segue to sponsor and the obviously algorithm driven increased lengthen followed by the same tired robotic plea for interaction which is pretty much every big YouTube channel or wannabe big channel.

Doesn't help that search pushes up those type of channels and shoves smaller channels just uploading content just to share something.

I'm pretty lucky not liking most YouTube style content these days, so don't consume too much of it like I used to. Lot of the creators feel like AI with the same phrase of if you are new to the channel like and subscribe and ring the notification bell...blah blah blah. And then drag out info that can be said in a minute into a 10 minute long ramble for the algorithm.

YouTube these days is more for music or checking out a part of a game I'm stuck on these days from a creator with like 1 sub putting up a 10 second long clip that gets straight to the point. Those guys are the heroes over the 5+ minute long uploads of the same content in comparison that has you have to dig into the comments to find where to skip to.

I was playing the demo over and over before I finally got the full game this year.
