Make sure some of your backups are kept offline (so that they won't be encrypted along with everything else) and also test that they work regularly! Otherwise they might not do what you think they do.

That means you've never heard Ohio by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, which is a shame because it rocks.

I'd totally pay for NSA+ to live-stream American phone calls and Internet traffic.

Bingo. Buy a VPN for privacy just means, give us your data instead of your ISP.

Now, a VPN provider may very well be more trustworthy than your ISP! But then again, maybe not... That depends on your circumstances and risk profile.

That makes sense to me. Access speed and disc space are often inversely related. It's like pre-optimizing the file for faster consumptionater by adding more information at "compile time" vs "run time".

Google doesn't sell your raw personal data. They refine it and then sell it.

This sounds like something James Mickens would write.

My favourite by him: The Night Watch (PDF)

I originally switched from Podcast Addict to Google Podcasts for seamless integration when listening to podcasts directly on Google Home devices. Hopefully this means better Google Home integration with popular third-party podcast apps, but it probably just means we'll be forced to use YouTube Music instead. :-/

Okay, but NSA (or any state actor) aren't going to blow their load (tip their hand) by busting anything less than a massive terrorist cell.
