I was just reading about this a little while ago. Basically the year used to start with March, and they didn't have names for January and February since not much happened in winter. Eventually they got named and turned into the first two months.

Speaking of mildly infuriating 😆
Offer to do some cleaning?
With a limited budget of just $800, nearly half of which was spent on a leather jacket
Lol
I guess technically I "lived through" Y2K, in the same sense that I've lived through every other day of my life.
The example you mention is actually in the essay itself.
Oh yeah, I guess it was, huh 😅
Poe's Law in effect in this thread. This is clearly satire.
I thought it was a good read - people don't think about the value in some of the things we've lost in the name of efficiency. It's like a corner store where you know the employees and see your neighbors versus a big box store with lower prices.
Well I think it can definitely be a reflexive response by someone who just doesn't like being contradicted, but it could also be a feeling of "you aren't trying to understand what I'm saying, you're just trying to think of a way to counter it". So it could be worth taking a moment to back up and taking a deeper look at what the person is trying to say.
You gotta admit this post is a little ironic.
I was just thinking earlier today, games could probably use AI to seamlessly work the player's name into dialog. They would still hire voice actors, but insert whatever name the player chooses into the lines where it is mentioned. I feel like this isn't too far away.
