Not just that but that the "infotainment" system is getting further and further integrated with vehicle controls

A lot of this also comes back to asshole design, and EV's can be particularly bad for this. Switching to large touch "entertainment" displays is a major issue. With my last ICE (Honda) vehicle, it was integrated into the backup+side cameras and a few comfort/convenience features. I could still replace that with a new head unit, though only certain ones would still support the cameras.

My wife's EV (Hyundai) on the other hand, the console isn't really made in a way where it seems swappable, and even if it was there are major system functions - such as configuring charge/power settings - which can only be configured from that (or the dogshyte app that screws up often and requires a paid subscription after 3yr)

I'd also wonder about a case against the company supplying the facial rec software/DB. Essentially they are fingering her as a criminal in a way that has a notable impact, which seems like a potential case for slander/libel to me (not sure what a "bad db entry" would fall under in this case).

a) you'd have to know who does it, and you might not until you (or somebody else) gets caught in the net b) boycotts are more effective if there's choice, which there won't be if mostly everybody starts using this shyte

There are other WinAmp-like apps - including ones that can use old WinAmp skins in classic now etc - such as QMMP or Audacious

A LOT are like that though. They just get you a smaller bill by sending power bank to the grid, rather than making you grid-independent.

Yes and no. A lot of them are still emplaced in useful locations, and people travelling will still need to stop and charge. A lot of the ones that were located in less profitable locations have already closed.

If anything, the charge times associated with electric might make proximity to nearby store, mall or entertainment venue more profitable.

Just want to add an extra FU to Google as a consumer and Android user. Killing off GPlay Music for YT Music was just a nasty nice, especially given that the latter has no mechanism to purchase music and a lot of the content or mixes in from YouTube uploads seems of pretty dubious legitimacy

*Planed/straight wood versus raw lumber. It threw me off when I first started building stuff and summed that a 2x4 was actually 2"x4" in all my measurements/plans

*Or it would be straight if you're lucky and don't pick from the top of the bin at Home Depot

This is actually one thing I've been thinking AI and deepfake tech can potentially do good. Let's say you have an idea and can code.. You have an idea for music but no instrumental talent, so the best you can do is hum it. You can't afford voice actors or other professionals.

Or maybe you're artist with an idea who can storyboard but not code. Maybe you can make 2d designs but not 3D models, or aren't great at animate.

But... there is software that can take what you say and change it to a different voice. It can animate a model to match the words. Similarly, software that could generate instrumental sounds from humming is possible. An AI can generate interactive dialog. It could also provide assistance in the generation of music, debugging of code, and eventually more advanced 3D modeling.

A lot of game design software is much more a GUI to an environment/model and triggers etc than stuff like writing hardcore backend C++ code etc. AI could take that even further.

Then add VR. Drop somebody into a blank-slate where they can create a whole world with a word, a gesture, and a great idea.

One day, that might be a reality.

IIRC they also had some stuff going around about how Tears of the Kingdom ran better on the emulator than the actual Switch.

Pretty sure that was the point at which Nintendo decided to unleash the dogs on them

Or just ... use it like a port where other nations can rent landing space? Maybe even share resources like the ISS does and charge others rent
